So this thread is mainly just one question:

I recently purchased a gtx 580 and was wondering how the card fares for newer games on the market. The new rig I'm building is mainly driven by having it finished by the GW2 release. How long can I expect the 580 to maintain good playability at a 1080p res? (Referring to years and new games released before having to upgrade the GPU)

1.5 or 3gb card ?

It still does good but in some games 1.5tb isn't enough to max out the eye candy

It's the 1.5gb VRAM card. Taking into account I'll be mostly playing games like League of Legends or Guild Wars 2 for a while, and the fact I picked it up for $250.

Im just wondering how long Ill be able to play games with pretty decent visual quality before Ill need to upgrade.

You should be able to play games with decent visual quality for a good long while, I'd say 1-2 years. The 1.5GB might be a limit for playing on maximum, but you will still be able to play with reasonably high settings for a good while.
