This may not be the best part of the forum to put it but I couldn't for the life of me figure out where else to ask it

I was looking at buying 21 Jump Street in HD from iTunes, and for the USA it costs $12.99, and in the UK iTunes it's £13.99!?!?

$12.99 converted to pounds sterling is £8.38, so why are we having to pay a bazillion times more?

Thanks

20% of £8.38 is £1.68, bringing the total (including VAT) to £10.06, so we're still getting charged out the ass for the exact same content...

I never really had a problem with buying stuff on iTunes until I noticed this just now :/

Yea but surely that's their problem and not the consumers? I only posted to find out if anyone knew a definitive reason why we have to pay more for a download which is 100% identical to the cheaper US version, and if it's just to help them maintain their running costs then that just sucks a big pile of dick :/

Oh well, one of life's unanswerable questions, I've seen loads of posts on the internet asking the same thing about unfair hardware pricing from Apple in US/UK comparisons and Apple never respond to any emails the people send. I can sort of understand what with shipping costs etc to get the products to the UK, but digital downloads? Come on... no reason to extort us for that!

Cheers anyway :)

So you expect a company to pay for your countries higher operating costs? Very interdasting.

Just asking: have you seen this movie yet? I really didn't care for it, didn't think it was very funny at all. I guess it's just me since many thought it was funny. Kind of like Superbad, I didn't think that was too great either, except for Seth Rogen...

I bet you that there an import duty hidden in there as well and any other applicable taxes.

And it's Apple. They charge a grand for a netbook.

Welcome to not living in America.

Hahaha, this reminds of a few years ago, where an Australian made car, the Holden Clubsport I believe, was imported to the US by Pontiac, rebadged as the Pontiac G8 (or something), and sold CHEAPER in America than here, when converted to AU $. It was actually cheaper to get the car imported BACK to Australia from the US than it was to buy the car here. I just do not understand why US consumers get everything so cheap.
