My 5850's played it just fine.. I've not played it in months. I just replaced my 5850's with a GTX570. I'll try it when I get home to see if I too have the same problem. If so.. I'll be pissed, because it's one of the reasons I picked up a GTX570 and that it was $269 at newegg. Every game I've played with it so far has played smooth as butter. :toast:

Uhm I played it with a 5850 as well and while it's "fine" you still get stutters...
Smoothe as butter? I doubt it.. Fraps or it didn't happen...lol..
Sure it can be smoothe as butter "After" the textures are loaded..
But once you hit a texture loading zone it's going to stutter..

Well DX9 is better although still a small amount, not what I would expect from a "blockbuster" title, but as someone has said, aslong as ps3 and xbox is find who gives a damn about us.

Don't remember a dramatic drop in frames but only in one particular level, I won't disclose it since OP is still playing it. There, the game became almost unplayable no matter what settings. But otherwise we had everything on highest possible settings (that's 32CSAA and physX high among other things) DX11 and the game was running at around 35 FPS smooth (GTX570 SC and 1680/1050 res.) The game has some patches so you have to bring it up to date. That might help.

Steam updates the games on its own so it should be up to date already. And gameplay is very smooth after the choppingness when loading into new areas.

Erm, I read:

My 5850's played it just fine..

Lol, this is what I was really responding to. The 5850 does not avoid the stutters but you imply it does.. :p

The 570 avoids this issue but my 680 does not? I call Shenanigans.. Fraps or it didn't happen..lol..

I didn't get it through Steam so the patches came through GFW live. Didn't pay attention if OP has the game through Steam.

I didnt say to be fair, but I was wondering if steam had updated it automatically, anyway to make sure it did?

You could go to properties of the game in steam and "Verify Game Cache"

You can right click the game in steam games list and go to properties..
In DLC or files, one of those tabs up top.. Check the tabs and you'll see something like
"Allow steam to keep this game up to date"
Make sure that is checked..
Also steam cloud enabled for the game may be required. Not sure..

Because you have an ATI card. Its more prominent on Nvidia for reasons I have no idea. Only thing I can conclude is issues with PhysX.

I can see two 5850's plowing through this game no problem. I played the first one perfectly fine with one 5850. No stutter. Same engine so two should be fine.

Because you have an ATI card. Its more prominent on Nvidia for reasons I have no idea. Only thing I can conclude is issues with PhysX.

Thank you for reading my post.. :toast: When I get home at some point I'll try on my GTX570 to see how it plays.. but from the post so far I'll be in the same boat. :toast:

I'm sorry do you think you have the right on these forums to tell someone to go somewhere? My advice is don't take the advice of people who will give you speculation in place of actual proof. If you don't do that then it's just the blind leading the blind. Have fun running into walls.. Now.. Goodbye..

Just because your 680 stutters doesn't mean a 5850 will. See different GPU mfg make what they call drivers. Sometimes these drivers have game specific optimizations in them. This can fix things like stutters in games. The fact of the matter is his 5850's had no stutter and your 680 does. This has to do with drivers.

I played the first one stutter free with a SINGLE 5850. Hes telling you he played the second one stutter free with TWO 5850's. Sometimes if it quacks like a duck it doesn't mean its a horse.

Exactly, the point of this topic was to bench my own system against those that are similar, I care not that an amd runs smoother than my gtx, because I bought the gtx!

Do you have this installed on an SSD by chance, or a mechanical?
