I use all 3 options.

Generally, if i am playing a game on my monitor, i use an old set of 5.1 creative desktop speakers, not sure what model, they were about £250 in 2003, not bad by desktop standards, but pretty shitty by audiophile (what a pretentious word) standards.
If i am playing a gamepad based game, or ps3/xbox i use the current Tannoy Mercury v3/v1/vc set with an old kef c4 sub, running through a yamaha rxv1067 (an amputee aventage :p).
Since buying this receiver i also use it for playing flac from a nas drive, rather than a PC.
Oh, and as for the 3rd option, i use an xbox360 headset for teamspeak etc (plugged into pc 360 pad)
