MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, is going to launch a series of new Philips displays with new technologies at this year's IFA consumer-electronics show in Berlin, Germany. Highlights include the world's first UltraWide21:9 format with a big 29" screen, 'Gioco'- the world's first Ambiglow display for immersive 3D gaming, IPS display with Smart MHL technology that connects and mirrors your Android smart phone, and an 27" crystal clear high resolution PLS display. Additionally, MMD will show a Philips' glasses free 3D display.

A showcase of innovations
IFA brings great news for people looking for new technology which can enhance their personal and professional lives. This autumn, Philips introduces the world's first UltraWide 21:9 display with Multiview. Boasting a large 29" ultra-high resolution screen with 2560x1080 AH-IPS technology, this ultimate display is set to impress you with its crystal clear images and brilliant colors. Multiview increases your productivity with active dual screen, active dual source. Options like super speed USB 3.0 hub, stereo speakers make professional work or play, a breeze!

Furthermore, IFA 2012 is the perfect platform to launch the world's first Ambiglow 3D display. The new Philips GIOCO, boasting a big 27-inch screen promises to intensify your gaming experience. This iconic ultra narrow bezel display combines zero-flicker 3D viewing and employs the Philips' innovative Ambiglow technology which creates an image-matching halo of light on rear wall and visually enlarges the screen that gives you a truly immersive 3D experience.

Also in the IFA line-up is the new Philips IPS display with Smart MHL. It' large 23-inch screen with the latest mobile High Definition technology enables users to watch photos, play games or watch HD videos directly from Android smart phones - while recharging their mobile device at the same time.

MMD is also unveiling Philips' professional 27" PLS display with crystal clear, ultra-high resolution 2560x1440 images. It has a plethora of productivity boosting tools. Multiview technology allows you to simultaneously connect and view dual sources, while its' in-built 2 megapixel webcam enables you to communicate freely. With super speed USB 3.0 hub you can now save time in data transfer while it rapidly charges your smart phone. Philip's renowned PowerSensor helps you significantly decrease your energy costs.

And finally, MMD is unveiling glass free 3D display, whereby viewers can now experience full 3D quality without the use of special glasses. Called Autostereoscopic 3D, this technology brings real 3D into the living room and boardroom - great news not only for graphic enthusiasts but also for professionals working with CAD applications e.g. in interior design or architecture. The IPS features full HD widescreen resolution with brilliant, flicker-free pictures. Its vibrant and sharp images provide an optimum viewing experience.

"UltraWide 21:9 display"

They launched this format as a high end TV last year, which has just been discontinued due to low sales.

I wonder why they think it will fare any better as a desktop monitor..

Can they be mounted on wall? I've noticed that most of new monitors can only stand on the supplied desk stand which sucks. I want to hang them on wall so i can have my desk clean.

LOL, how is it photoshopped. It is possible to make screens with very small to not bezel at all monitors.

I wonder why the even make all these thick bezels in the first place. Last time i have disassembled my monitor for home repair, it was like 2 centimeters of plastic where the actual screen is enclosed into metal case anyway and its bezel was just few milimeters thick. All screens could easily have just 2-3mm thick bezels. But companies obviously think having fat edges makes monitors look like they are worth more or something...

Definately shopped, just the glass goes from side to side:http://photos.expertreviews.co.uk/images/front_picture_library_Expert_Reviews/dir_346/er_photo_173422_52.jpg

LG does this too: Consumer Warning: LG IPS237 / IPS277 (1.2mm bezel lie)

Those panels need stability and fat bezels are the cheapest solution...

I was just about make a post about that. I wasn't 100% certain it was Phillips, but now that you say it as well, it is a little perplexing why they would cancel their TV lines due to low sales but believe it's still a viable desktop monitor alternative.

We are still yet to be sure about applying 3D to many markets, but the 1440p concept is always a good thing. If the market can downsize the price range a bit more I would buy two of these.
