Hi Guys,

I 've recently bought x850xt PCI-E card having dual-slot cooler..
But i've noticed the fan keeps running at default speed of around 5% even at load and even at tempratures of 76-77 degrees...I've kept everything at stock for now..
Is it normal ?

Regards,

Use atitool to override the fan! 5% is not normal at all!

I would say 76-77 degrees is a bit warm ....card fan should also speed up as it gets warm!

5% is normal for this card i think, 'cause tempratures are in control when i'm working in Windows, etc...
ATITool without overiding the normal FAN control, mentions the threasholds as

Temprature --- Fan Speed
0 ------------- 5%
91 ------------ 18%
96 ------------ 32%
98 ------------ 100%

So is this card intended to be running hot ?

Also noise for Fanspeed above 9% is quite noticible and high..

It really doesnt matter what the brand is, you really need to keep the core as cool as possible, 90*c is just too hot and you will start getting artifacts, 5% fan speed is not going to do anything at all too cool, you really need to run it faster or get a better aftermarket cooler if the noise is getting on your nerves!

Try and keep the temps from getting out of the 60*c range ;)

So can i change these FAN thresholds permanently from BIOS, etc, 'cause I don't want to run ATITool all the time..

I used rabit to edit the BIOS fan. It's very easy to do. Just make sure that if you edit the fan speed down for <65C, then you very quick make it go up to 100C. You dont want the GPU to overheat... and the fan comes on too slowly or too late.

So make it silent for desktop use... and make the bugger kick in at 100% as soon as its getting hot, i.e. >70C
