driver installation problem

hi, i'm writing this from my secondary rig which has a 4850 crossfire setup. Catalyst setup wont detect my cards. I'm to lazy too do a fresh windows install so is there any way to correct this without formatting c:?
Before you ask yes I run driver sweeper in safe mode before installing the driver.

Well as a "quick and dirty" you could try updating the GFX drivers thru Device Manager. Then try running the Cat's again and see if it makes any difference.

Back Track a bit tho. What do they show up as in Device Manager? VGA Adaptors or properly ID's Cards(I assume we are dealing with your 5870's)If they are showing up as "5 Series Card" when you check the Properties what driver is it using?

my 5870s are fine. this is my older rig with 4850s, they both show up as ati radeon 4800 series in the device manager.

Ahh now we're getting somewhere. What drivers are you trying to install? Anything after "12.5" won't have 4xxx series and below supported.

THESE are the "latest" drivers for 4xxx cards ;)
