Help me whit my 5850

i have this sapphire 5850





I can not pass the limit of 900-1200, it begins to freeze until the screen turns black and looks like a rainbow.

Anyone have any unlocked bios for this video card

You probably need more voltage on the GPU. My 5850's don't like going higher than 825 /1200 without more voltage, but with a slight bump I can get 1000 / 1200.

Do at your own risk though, I don't trust pumping more voltage through an older GPU.

Give us all of your system specs to Include:

Case Brand with number fans and size installed

Powersupply- Brand, Model, Wattage Rating

Motherboard- Brand, Model, and Bios Version

CPU- Brand and Model, What Clock level it is currently at while gaming and idle

Ram- Brand, Model, Type, Size/Capacity

For Now Id run it at factory clocks till the issues are solved

I have no problem, just want to overclock more than the limit which in my case is 899 core, 1199 mem

I cant touch the voltages,

Hi,

to my understanding is that not all HD 5850 cards (or any other) have voltage control, especially the non-reference ones do not have voltage control due to cost-cutting measures. But have you already tried using Sapphire's TriXX tool which also provides voltage control for their own videocards. There's also a list of what cards are supported by Trixx for voltage control.

If yours isn't on the list, then you can't do anything about it. But I can say is that an overclock of the HD 5850's gpu to 899 MHz on stock voltage is pretty good; mine only goes up to 825 Mhz.

Also remember overclocking is never guaranteed just cuz one video card can overclock a certain amount dosen't mean any other of the same model can do the same
