Thermalright is now preparing the release of the Archon SB-E X2, a CPU cooler 'optimized' for high TDP chips like Intel's Sandy Bridge-E models. Seen below, this new Archon measures 155 (L) x 106 (W) x 170 (H) mm and features a mirrored copper base, eight 6 mm heatpipes (with a sintered heatpipe design), and two TY-141 PWM fans working at 900 to 1,300 RPM (max sound output is 21 dBA).

The Archon SB-E X2 supports Intel LGA 2011/1366/1155/1156/775 and AMD Socket FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2/939 processors and is bundled with Chill Factor3 thermal paste. No word on pricing yet.

So it's just like the first one but with two fans. I can't use that fan on mine 'cause I have to force-close the panel.

That's a large cooler, wonder how it performs

Indeed it is large, but more in a sense of height - 170mm while most of them are ~160mm...

I have the 'regular' Archon but added extra fan, so more or less the same config (the fans are bit different)...
and it performs superb... Archon replaced my old IFX-14 and cools better and for me more important, quieter!

the only drawback is the height - I can not close the side panel well (CM690)

have you tried the mount off the archon with your ifx?

its what i am using now and while i have also lapped the base of my ifx i have found that the ifx with the new mount is the better option of those 2. with the same fan (sythe sflex 1600 rpm) it spins slower on the ifx than it did on the archon at the same settings as the huge fan that came with it stopped me closing my case too lol

edit

also op looks wrong, image shows 8 pipes and says 6 while the old one has 6 heatpipes.

I've been looking at Thermalright's website... there seems to be no difference between the TY-150 (which was on the Archon Rev. A) and this TY-141. Why introduce another fan model then? =S

There is a difference, just that Thermalright haven't put the TY-150 spec up on the page (it's a copy of the TY-141 at the moment).

Specs (taken from the Silver Arrow SB-E)
TY-150 Length 170mm x Height 150mm x Width 26.5mm
TY-150 Fan Speed: 500~1100 RPM (PWM)
TY-150 noise level: 17~21dBA
Fan Airflow: 38~84CFM

TY-141 Length 151mm x Height 140mm x Width 26.5mm
TY-141 Fan Speed: 900~1300 RPM (PWM)
TY-141 Fan noise level: 19~21dBA
Fan Airflow: 28.3-74CFM

This one has 8x 6mm heatpipes, and from the pics it seems they put the extra 2 on top of the original 6 and slapped another fan, not much creativity but i guess it works.

im happy too with my archon but im ok with only 1 fan xd and first to change case i was using the enermax phoenix without the fan on the side pannel and it fits very well but not in the right position.
if you wanna have enough space change case xd .
now with the fractal design arc midi fit very well and in the right position ( the arc midi fits cooler tall 180mm).

Yes... I was eyeing the Arc midi & Storm Enforcer, both for their ability to accommodate the archon...

I haven't lapped my IFX because I didn't need to... It has nice flat mounting surface, though not shiny... Also was using diamond based paste (which I don't find anymore :( ) that helped to shave off ~2 dec celsius
