I installed vitru. Should I now put my graphics card back into the computer and connect it to the monitor? So that my monitor is no longer connected to the system?

once vitru is installed shutdown reinstall the card and leave the monitor connected to the system
reboot
then open the vitru app and select d mode
then you can plug your display into the card no need to power off
if none of the above works you can always disable The igpu/vitru in the bios completely just make sure you uninstall the intel drivers first
if you get no video after installing the card make sure the bios is set to boot from the card (PEG/pcie) and plug then monitor into it

I put in the graphics card and rebooted. When I tried to open the virtu control panel in alert window popped up saying "Wrong GPU configuration. Please check your hardware/drivers. Disabling Virtu, and exiting. (Remember to enable virtu after the problem is fixed)"

I tried to manually install the driver using both downloading it online and using the cd that came with the card, but it still won't install because it can't detect the graphics hardware.

Sorry to ask this but do the fans spin on the nvidia GPU and have you connected the PCI-E Power cables to the GPU aswell?

The fan on the nvidia GPU spins. What do you mean by PCI-E Power Cables? I've connected the GPU to the PSU.

1. uninstall the intel drivers
2. go into the bios and disable the onchip video
3. make sure that any "multi monitor mode Options in the bios are disabled
4.make sure lucid is disabled there should be a Option in the bios to turn it completely off
set the machine to boot from the pcie card and then install the drivers
if that doesn't work then re-install windows =/

I call the cables that connnect the gpu to the psu PCI-E power cables.
