Is there any significant difference between Playstation 3 blue ray players compared to other blue ray players? I mean, would at least the picture quality be the same?

Blue ray DVD players go up as high as 1,400. I rather buy a PS3 then spend that kind of money if there isn’t much of a difference… :banghead:

Picture wuality would be the same assuming you have a nice 1080P TV and the HD cables. Not to mention its cheaper and it has games.

Yep, I've been saying it from day one, if you want BluRay, PS3 is the way to go. A standalone BR player has no advantages over it. Actually, the PS3 has all the advantages. It's both cheaper AND more versatile.

Yes it is, it is absolutely no different than a stand alone BluRay player. I've seen both, on the same TV, playing the same movie, and it is 100% the same.

A £500 dvd player? You mean hd-dvd player? Id say it is very possible that the xbox 360 player is better. Ignoring that it doesnt have HDMI remember that it has 3 powerful cores and a beast of a video card decoding the video. I doubt very many hd-dvd players have anything that powerful inside them. However, it does mean that the xbox 360 uses more electricity than standalone hd-dvd players when playing hd-dvds.

The exact same thing goes for the playstation 3. However, as soon as technology improves in regards to diodes etc, it wont matter how powerful the consoles are i.e 2nd generation bluray/hddvd players.
