Lenovo z580 USB 3.0 Under Performing

Hi guys it's been a while since the last time i posted

Im having an issue with my laptop, i bought the Lenovo Ideapad z580 Core i7 3rd Gen with USB 3.0 but i just can't achieve the USB 3.0 performance it still performes with the USB 2.0 speeds does anyone here had the same issue or can help with it?

I have all the drivers properly installed and i will share a screenshot from my device manager.

You do not say what device you are using to test the speeds.
USB2 devices are only marginally faster over USB3 and if its a usb machanical hard drive then it will only be as fast as it would over a sata connection.

I tested with my friend USB 3.0 external Hard Disk and can't pass the 35MB/Sec mark...

What speeds does your friend get? It might very well be the HDD or that enclosure.

Mechanical HDDs (especially 2.5 inch mobile drives) usually have a maximum sustained transfer speed of 35-40MB/s, your computer is performing exactly as advertised. To take advantage of USB3.0 transfer speeds you generally need some form of flash storage (fast USB3.0 sticks or SSDs hooked up to an external USB3.0 adapter.

Yes, i am pretty sure that the HDD has a maximum of 35MBps.

Most HDDs are branded USB 3.0, does not necessarily mean they will work at USB 3.0 speeds. they are just certified to "work" on usb 3.0.

its a marketing gimmick.
