I bought Mass Effect 2 for my xbox awhile back, still haven't opened or started it. Now I'm seeing a bunch of really good deals on Mass Effect 3 for PC/Xbox and a number of deals for the entire trilogy. I know that a person can import and continue their character across games (on the same platform, obviously). TBH I'm not really interested in going back to the orginal ME unless there is something really, really necessary to the storyline that I *must* do.

Your response on the poll is appreciated but so is your general feedback. Thank YOU all, TPU!

PS. My PC can handle ME3 just fine, so no worries there.

I'm kinda in the same boat and came to the conclusion that it's not worth going back and replaying the earlier games just to get a save file. however I played me2, if you didn't then you should play that. It would make sense then to get it for xbox as you already have 2 for xbox - but if you haven't started and can find it cheap enough or bundled free with 3, buy it for pc.

ediT: and you should note that Mass effect 3 on pc DOES NOT natively support the 360 controller. if you were going to do that, you would need pinnacle game profiler or something similar to use it.

What you did in ME1 will affect ME2 to a fairly large degree but ultimately NOTHING will affect the ending of ME3.

Call me an elitist but I'd go for everything on pc, that way you get all the dlc (for a price, thanks EA) and you get to control Shepard with a mouse, as it always should be.

No reason to go back to xbox if your pc can easily handle the game.
Besides, using keyboard/mouse on PC is better when it comes to assigning shortcut keys.

The original Mass Effect is still my favorite title in the series. It has the best story, plot, and combat (ME2 and ME3 got a near-lethal dose of consolitis).

Mass Effect is a RPG/shooter and unless you love aimbots, shooters are best played with a mouse--PC all the way.

I'm very certain the Mass Effect Trilogy doesn't include DLCs. Mass Effect has two, Mass Effect 2 has many, and so does Mass Effect 3.

It's much more an rpg than shooter, akin to dragon age which IMO is also better with a controller. Just like GTA and Red dead are part shooter but both are better played with a controller. This is my opinion though. I wasn't trying to argue the merits of a particular piece of hardware, just putting the information out there.

They are all about 50/50 story and action. The first had the most RPG elements, the second has hardly any, and third is somewhere in between. I completely disagree on Dragon Age and GTA. Red Dead is not available on PC.

I should also note that you can run the PC versions of the games at higher settings, especially resolution, if your computer can handle it. Console version probably runs at 720p where the PC version can do 1920x1200+.

The thing is I already have ME2 on xbox. I already own it. Unless you think it is worth it to sell it for a few buck and go PC...

I didn't kill the council. The way they reacted throughout the game made sense. They have more pressing concerns than a rogue spectre. :p

Saving the council gets your spectre status reinstated in ME2 (you can use that to get your way, especially in Zarkara Ward; it also pops up in a few other places like during the Lair of the Shadowbroker DLC). In ME3, when speaking with the council members, they often reference they are indebted to you but that doesn't change how the game plays out. They are ultimately minor, expendable characters so the impact on the plot is minimal. It is implied starting a game in ME2 and ME3 that they were killed on the Destiny Ascension.

just play it on PC and use Gibbeds save editor dont know why people forget about that nifty little tool

ME1 save editor
http://www.masseffectsaves.com/tools.php

ME2 save editor
http://social.bioware.com/project/4373/#files

eitherway the first one you can make changes and start ME2 on PC

second one you can change both ME1 and ME2 for use in ME3.

As for resolution yes Mass Effect runs at 720p on consoles PS3 wise ME2 and ME3 run like ass, 360 is playable,

PC you can run Texmod + mods to increase character texture resolutions force better versions of AA like FXAA or SMAA on top of faster load times, and the aforementioned editors which are just easier to deal with PC side so you can see how things play out.

I for one enjoyed the series on PC far more than console, having converted my friends to PC for that series due to the simple fact it played way better than the PS3 version, 360 again wasnt bad but the texture upgrades and some quick fixes with improved AA etc and AF really make Mass Effect games stand out compared to Console.
