Hi

Its been years since I last posted anything, anyway am going through a life-changing phase right now, am planning to quit gaming forever because I realized that I have wasted 15 years of my life on gaming and I can't quit because of my surrounding environment, i.e having a gaming computer sitting near me.

ok to cut to the chase, I want to replace my desktop with a laptop, I was considering business laptops but they lack multimedia features, I need to play 1080p videos constantly, so I want a laptop which has those features:

1-2 TB storage.

1080p resolution with LED screen.

CPU & GPU capable of running HD videos without lagging and stuttering.

RAM, anything that would allow me to have dozens of tabs opened and multiple browsers and office applications.

Budget: nothing more than $1,750 (might reconsider when I see different suggestions)

Looks doesn't matter.

I would really appreciate the help, thanks in advance.

In 2013, it's not going to take much in the way of "multimedia features" to run 1080p videos very well, and to multitask that with many other things. A modern GPU will accelerate the common media formats, but even if there's no GPU acceleration, HD video isn't a killer load on a modern CPU. In fact, I have a 2009 laptop with a Core 2 Duo (2.4GHz) and 6GB of RAM that I recently added a 1TB HDD to. I'd say it checks off everything on your list besides being business class, or having a 1080p LED screen (it's 1440x900 and CCFL). I can attest to running dozens of tabs (though I try not to) and another browser.

So, unless your looking at low-power CPUs such as an Intel Atom or AMD E-Series CPU/APU, I'd not worry about performance capability, but I'd recommend 6GB+ of RAM.

As for the rest, I haven't gotten a laptop since 2009, so I don't have any useful anecdotes on new laptops. Make sure you like the keyboard/touchpad/port selection/multimedia buttons/etc...

I did try to look by myself, I was never interested in laptops anyway so I was struck by the different and diverse setups, so I was hoping for someone with experience in laptops to suggest me a brand or a specific laptop which meets my need.

On a side note: if you manage to quit gaming, PLS PLS tell me on a private msg. how did you do it?

OnTopic: I am going ahead and recommending Lenovo Business class: I really like their Accu-keyboard. When doing a report they feel soo goood when typing.

An example could be: IdeaPad Y580 - specifications depend on the shop you gonna buy it from.
