Hi, I have an issue of Grand Theft Auto IV not crashing ALL THE WAY, when it does crash. What I mean by that is, I play a mod for GTA IV, and we all know it's a little unstable with the game. And it WILL crash. Fine, no big deal.

But, since I got this laptop, it seems to crash, and then stay with a black screen. When the game crashes, the game window will turn black, and then it will have the small popup that says something along the lines of "GTA IV is not responding". But when I click "close", the black game screen STAYS on. It won't get to the desktop. So I ALWAYS have to alt+tab and hit the start icon then log off (with the black screen still there).

Is this a side effect of Windows 8? Is there ANY way to fix it so that when the game crashes, it will crash and allow me to go to the desktop?

Trust me, I've tried that. Task manager won't even show when I start it up. I start it up, and it will start up BEHIND the game screen. There's no way to bring it up infront of it.

It's most likely a windows 8 issue.

Try to run game in a window and stretch it out.

I'll have to try it out. From what I understand, Grand Theft Auto doesn't have a setting where you can play it in windows mode. You have to go into the configuration settings or something along those lines, and change it there, but I'll try it out when I have a chance.
