This is an extremely good deal as Microcenter must be clearing some inventory to make way for the newer Haswell chips and 1150 motherboards.

Microcenter has never paired the $40 off mobo combo with the i7-3770k, only the i5-3570k in the past.

Haswell seems to be 5-10% better than Ivy in most previews at best.

This is old news. Microcenter has run that special on/off for a long time but good find. They run the 3570K for $189 and usually the 3770k at $239 alternating I think. It is in store only. I have bought a few 3770k's and shipped them for members

How does the 3770K compare to the 2500K?

I am tempted to try and get one, but I don't know if it would be worth the effort. They cost $380 over here at the moment, so it's a very good deal for me. Especially with the $40 combo discount.

Not worth it unless you do a lot of video conversion.

Just overclock your 2500k a little higher to 4.6 or even 4.7ghz if it can handle it under 1.38v and temps under 80c.

Better off spending that $300+ on a 24" IPS monitor plus maybe a faster gpu.

I have got a 7870 Tahiti on the way :)

I was thinking that if I got the i7, i could sell my i5 for $150 locally. But i think that it may not be worth the hassle overall.

Yeah if u got a 7870 on the way then overclock a little more and pick up a nice 24" IPS 1920 res monitor for $200.

Yea. I think that might be a better idea. Although I was holding out for that kickstarter 3D headset.

Microcenter had a SICK Samsung SSD deal with a Mobo/CPU combo back in Feb. Got my 120 SSD for a mere 70 dollars. (Actually, this was when I started building my rig)

They also price-match, so if you live next to one, always fight for that extra penny. They'll honour it. As does Fry's.
