there are sooo many lame critics these days who are looking to thrash anything..

it has bookmarks (named as stash, the heart shaped thing) which you can access on the start page.
plus you can add any page by clicking the heart in the address bar. same thing while adding to speed dial.

there is a list of closed tabs.(click opera at top right, select recently closed tabs)
its all there, but in different places.

one thing i dont like is the java pop ups, like while adding images here, are appearing top center aligned. the centre centre alignment is better.

Yes, they can't possibly have any valid argument because they used to use the missing features do they?

It's good if stash match your browsing habit, which I guess to be very limited, but try having hundreds of bookmarks and use stash as efficiently as the old opera bookmark manager. Good luck.

Wow there are a list of recently of closed tabs, buried inside some extraneous menu, guess it'll be a snap to add it as icon to the main UI since it's Opera... oh wait.

I really hate people who think other's arguments are invalid just because they have different need and situation than other. It's the same situation with Windows 8, though I don't wanna open that can of worm here.

ok, another software going the mama and papa way, wait, grandmama and grandpapa way. I love Opera, but the previous one. I hope next upgrades include the whole customization we used to love.
If not, all browsers are becoming the same.
At least browser wars will be quiet.

But Off-road mode is awesome on the run with a tablet.

Opera ended at 12.14/15. Using it from v 3.0.

This POS has nothing to do with real Opera. Everybody responsible for it should be feed to the sharks and Google nuked for crimes against humanity.

O 12.14 FTW!

They have not abandoned version 12 quite yet.

You can get the latest here --> Opera 12.16 for Windows; as of now it is release 12.16 build 1860.

Not all mirrors are carrying the files, yet, so you can, also, get it here at this ftp link --> http://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1216/

Opera 12.16
Release notes

Release date: 2013-07-04

Opera 12.16 is a recommended upgrade offering security and stability enhancements.
Fixes and Stability Enhancements since Opera 12.15
Security
Replaced code signing certificate; see our advisory.

Edit:
This is my understanding of the situation.

This is the 12.15 renumbered 12.16 because someone hack some security certificates and they have been updated and old certificates revoked.
Plus, they tweaked a couple of unknown items... unknown which items at this time.

This is not version 15; this is a version 12 update.

Ok, Opera 15 runs smooth and fixed a bunch of glitches, site compatability problems, etc. However most of the customization has been removed for this version. You have very little control over the browser and how it functions. Stash is completely useless and the Discover thing is a news feed you can't customize.

All in all, stick with 12.15 until Opera 16 is out and the functionality is back.

So, this is like FireFox's ESR (Extended Support Release) or something?

I have no clue what the hell are everyone doing with stupid dumb touchscreen GUI designs these days. Opera Mobile is for that, not the Windows version. Geez.

If Opera 12.50 was its peak, Opera 15, while sort of promising, goes 50 steps back. I don't have my favorite extensions, i don't have bookmarks bar anymore, Opera Sync is absolutely useless now (does it even sync anything!?). It's just pointless, clumsy and we'll have to wait another 50 incarnations to see something half useful.

I sometimes just don't get the logic behind stubborn Scandinavians...

I have been using Opera for many years for the same reasons as you. It follows that I too am very unhappy at the changes between version 12:16 and version 15 especially the loss of SESSIONS and BOOKMARKS. I completely agree with everything you have said and am now transferring to Chrome where Bookmarks and Sessions work.

i miss of course the favorites quick access etc, and I also miss the "Block" stuff right clicking on anypage without plugins.

Is going back to version 12 secure?
