Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking and network and direct attached storage solutions, today announced the availability of its new AirStation Extreme AC 1750 Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Router WZR-1750DHP and the soon to come AirStation Extreme AC 1200 Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Router WZR-1166DHP.

Supporting 802.11ac, the next generation Wi-Fi standard, Buffalo's new routers deliver in excess of gigabit wireless speeds, ideal for streaming HD video and music or gaming online with computer, smartphone and tablet devices. In addition, Buffalo has enhanced the routers with a new intuitive user interface that allows consumers to easily manage their wireless network, creating an optimized environment for their personal wireless usage scenarios.

Today, the plethora of wireless devices in the home and the shift in consumer content consumption habits is driving the demand for next-generation Wi-Fi technology that can deliver faster speeds and enhanced range. Buffalo's WZR-1750DHP and WZR-1166DHP are equipped with two wireless radios and Buffalo's HighPower Technology for extreme performance and range, making them ideal for high-bandwidth applications such as online gaming and streaming HD content. In addition, the routers are backward compatible for use with existing Wireless-N devices, operating in the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz spectrums.

"With each new wireless gadget in the home and increasing online activities vying for bandwidth, consumers push the boundaries of their wireless networks on a daily basis," said Matt Dargis, vice president of sales at Buffalo Technology (USA), Inc. "We designed Buffalo's new AirStation Extreme 11ac routers to meet these networking demands, providing high performance, feature packed Wi-Fi, ideal for the digital driven lifestyle."

Buffalo's new user interface enables consumers to easily create a high speed wireless network with simple setup and configuration from a computer or mobile device. Additionally, users can configure two or more WZR-1750DHP or WZR-1166DHP devices to act as a wireless bridge and repeater in seconds with AOSS, connecting up to four network-enabled wired devices such as computers, media players and gaming consoles to an existing wireless network.

Beyond Traditional Home Networking
The AirStation Extreme goes beyond the traditional wireless home network, introducing a new feature set that enables consumers to easily prioritize and manage the traffic and devices on their network. Buffalo's Priority Control QoS gives users a top entertainment experience by enabling them to automatically prioritize multimedia and gaming traffic, such as Netflix, YouTube and Xbox LIVE, for uninterrupted streaming and lag-free gaming. In addition, Buffalo's new easy-to-navigate user interface allows consumers to prioritize devices on the network for an even more personalized experience. AirStation Extreme also allows users to experience enhanced coverage, get high speed gigabit wired connections, connect a printer to the network, add shared storage, and allow the family to surf the web worry-free with Norton ConnectSafe web filtering and easy-to-use parental control by Symantec.

Enhanced Performance with Beamforming
Buffalo's WZR-1750DHP and WZR-1166DHP support beamforming technology to optimize signal energy for enhanced operation with devices that also support the technology. Beamforming creates a more direct wireless signal as it specifically targets supported connected devices, such as the latest MacBook Air, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One M7, boosting performance and range even more to deliver a reliable, high speed wireless connection for bandwidth intensive activities.

Add 11ac Wi-Fi to a Computer or Laptop
Buffalo's lineup of 802.11ac products includes a dual band client adapter, enabling consumers to take full advantage of high speed 802.11ac networking. Available now, the AirStation AC866 Dual Band Wireless USB Adapter WI-U2-866D is a compact wireless client that connects a computer or laptop to an existing wireless network or hot spot for quick and easy wireless Internet access at speeds up to 866 Mbps.

Pricing and Availability
All Buffalo AirStation wireless solutions are backed by a limited three-year warranty including toll-free U.S.-based technical support available 24/7.

Maybe I'm wrong on this but your devices would be transmitting information that isn't encrypted (including the mac addresses) so anyone could sniff your info/find out the mac address of one of your devices/log in.

They can sniff your unencrypted wireless traffic. Wireless is broadcasted and anyone can see it if you sniff wireless traffic. You're not secure.
The same deal is with encrypted traffic, but they can't read the contents. Anyone can "see" wireless traffic and unencrypted wireless is never secure.
