I've posted a lot of questions today so heres another ;)

I need to get a new videocard as I broke my X800Pro and AGP's are almost twice that of the PCIe counterparts.

So I'm looking for a good 754 mobo with PCIe. I'm looking at the Abit NV8 with NF4 4x, as I've always got either Abit or Asus. Oh and I'd prefer some sort of NF4 chipset

Any suggetions would be appreciated, thx :D

Hmmm a friend of mine got an Epox a few years back and it was DOA and it took hims months to get it replaced. I don't think I need SLI because by the time I would get around to getting a 2nd videocard I'd probably be upgrading the whole system anyway.

I was looking at the Asus K8N4-E Deluxe but on newegg.com there are a lot ppl saying they have had problems with it.

I currently have an Asus K8N-E Deluxe (AGP and NF3 chipset) and b4 that I had a ABit KR7A-Raid I believe (it's been a while) with an Athlon XP 1900+. I've liked them both though I've had more problems with the Asus (but that number is small)

epox is a good company, i highly doubt someone will get a DOA probley your friend killed the motherboard because ive seen they test their motherboards before shipping them. The epox nf4 sli is the best socket 754 if you dont get it you are just simply ignorant . BTW i have a epox board no problems had it for 4 months now with a 3700+. Overclocks pretty good and its stable.

Hey now no reason to call me names!

And it was DOA, I was there when he installed it, didn't even try to boot. I remember took him bout a week to get a straight answer from tech support then another several weeks to finally get it replace. But like I originally said this was a couple years ago.

Plus like I also said I don't really need SLI, by the time I'd get a 2nd video card I'd just be upgrading the whole system anyway.

[edit] I see one the one your talking about, it is in the top 5 that I'm currently looking at

The epox socket 754 sli motherboard is the best because of the nforce4 sli chipset which is the best one avaliable for k8 754's.

Abit NV8.

Thank you wazzledoozle, at least someone can express their opinion without resulting to childish name calling and general douchbaggery

I'm curious why do you recommend the Abit NV8? Just so I have a little more to go off of for it.

-Cheap
-NF4x chipset
-Abit reliability and high quality parts
-All Abit boards use high quality japanese capacitors, not the made in china junk.
-Abit softmenu and overclocks like crazy
-Great feature set
-I like the layout

What about Gigabyte K8-NE:
-nf 4
-1 pciex16 3 pci 2 pciex1
-3 ram sockets max is 3x1Gb
-passive cooled chipset and constant at <45°C
-4 sata
-not expensive
it keeps cool and has some own tweaking programs and a tweak utility in bios.

the nforce4 sli chipset is superior to the nf4 ultra chipset used in the boards by all the other posters ,
