Ok..so..Is this a good upgrade from an amd athlon 64 38000+ single cora at 2.4 ghz?

Cpu:AMD Athlon II X3 455 3.3ghz
Ram:Gskill 4gb
Gpu/graphics card:Gtx 260

Can it handle call of duty 4 or maybe even mw3 on high settings..Can it play far cry 3 on lowest settings?

If he can manage to run CoD4 @ "high" then he will (should?) be able to run MW3 at "high" too.. seeing as the graphics in both are about the same with MW3 looking a bit "prettier" with no real impact on frames.

Crysis should play decent enough on "medium" settings also.

However, it all depends on his resolution in the end

Edit:

Looking at these, he will have no problem with CoD4 or MW3, however, Crysis proves to be a bizzle as ever.

A slightly overclocked-out-the-box GTX260 was used as an example because its not out the reach for an average enthusiast to overclock 10%~ (more? :nutkick:) so he could quite easily get this level of performance.

The good news is, the tests were ran @ "high" settings for all games with Crysis having 4x AA, too... pretty known performance killer so I expect with medium settings, he will do just fine.... so long as he leaves AA alone :banghead:

Need more RAM than that these days. 8GB for new builds.CPU is borderline OK, GPU is old. Probably faster, cheaper and more power efficient alternatives.

If your board supports it look for a Phenom II X4 or X6. Video card wise, 6790, 6850, 6870,5850,5870 area minimum.

BTW stick to one thread at a time, you are confusing people.

Maybe all the good info you're getting here can be merged with your original thread so all the info is in one place and the redundancy factor can be eliminated.

C'mon now OP, don't start another thread on the same subject on the same day, especially when the original thread is fairly active.
