My Q6700 just died. I am looking for a replacement chip. If dirt cheap I can settle for a dual core, but I would prefer a quad.

Would you be interested in a Xeon X3210 2.13GHz or is the multiplier too low for your needs? It can easily be BSEL modded to run at 2.66GHz at stock voltage if you have a board that natively supports 1333 FSB and has no overclocking options (excluding Gigabyte).

I've run the chip fine in a Lenovo L-IG41M, ASRock G41M-S3, Dell Dimension E520 (965G) and ASUS P5W DH Deluxe 975X (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5W_DH_Deluxe/#support_CPU).

The chip should just be a rebranded Kentsfield. I haven't tested it in an NVIDIA based board but I'd be willing to work with you if you want to give it a try.

Benchmark Scores I put a small scratch in my workbench when I moved it.
After I made the deal I realized thet the chip I bought is not supported, but he gave me such a good deal That I am just going to use it to upgrade a friend's machine.

FYI to the OP, I tried using a Q6600 as a replacement for a E8400. The E8400 seemed to be a lot quicker(not faster, of course the quad was faster) than the Q6600. So much so that I sold the Q6600 within 2 weeks of buying it.
