Yeah...while I can't say I actually like it (though that's probably Steams fault) I have also never really had a problem with it.

Nor am I even sure what you are asking exactly.

Yeah the only problems I have had have all been caused by my own mistakes. I've never had any with Steam either and I have like 50 games through them.

Videogameter.com - Battlefield 4 on PS4 & Xbox One – 'We need to compromise in some places,' says DICE

But the difference between PC and next-gen versions "won't be night and day", developer assures.

By David Scammell (@VG_Dave) On 27th Aug, 2013 at 11:51am

The PC version of Battlefield 4 will look better than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, executive producer Patrick Bach has suggested, telling VideoGamer.com that DICE is "doing as much as [it] can" with the next-gen versions, "but we need to compromise in some places".

Discussing the differences between the PC and next-gen versions of Battlefield 4, Bach said that "from a CPU/GPU perspective, no, [PS4 & Xbox One cannot match PC].

"PC will always be... You can just add more to a PC. There's always more. The game supports to a big extent better hardware, but not completely, so it won't be night and day."

The PS4 demo of Battlefield 4 on display at Gamescom last week appeared to be somewhat lacking in comparison to previous PC demos, with IGN calling the visuals "soft and muddled" and outfitted with wall textures that "looked half-finished, lacking some of the smaller material nuances or 3D variation".

Battlefield 4 screenshot
Whether the final game will look as good on next-gen consoles as the 'Fishing in Baku' footage shown during the initial reveal still isn't certain, however.

"I try to remember what it looked like back then," Bach adds. "To me it's back then! It has come a long way. This is why I'm not completely sure on how to answer the question, because some people might not see the difference. When they look at it, [they'll say,] 'Yes, it looks exactly the same.' To me, I will see the difference because there are so many levels of fidelity that is for some people hard to spot. The experience will be very, very similar, but then what it is might not be the same."

Asked whether he was happy with the final system specs of PS4 and Xbox One, Bach said: "I'm never happy. I always feel like there's more that we can do [and] there's always more that other people could do."

But does he wish they offered more?

"Of course I do. I want PCs to be twice as fast as well. I think [PS4 & Xbox One] will do what they are supposed to do. They will move console gaming farther. It will take console gaming into a new generation. Then the question is, could they have done more? Yes. Would it cost the same? No. It would be twice the price. Would that be a reasonable thing to sell to consumers? Probably not.

"But then again, there's always a balance, and the same for us. There's always a balance. 'You should have done more with Battlefield 4.' It's like, well, we do as much as we can but we need to compromise in some places, and in other places we don't compromise at all, and you think we should have done the opposite. Sorry, that's our creative choice. I think that both Microsoft and Sony, they probably have very clever people finding the right balance where you get the most bang for the right buck. And I think looking at that and looking at from what I understand when it comes to pricing that they are hitting a very good target."

Battlefield 4 screenshot
Despite the differences between the PC and PS4/Xbox One versions, though, Bach believes that the next-gen release of Battlefield 4 marks an exciting milestone for the series.

"I think the cool thing that we are extremely excited about is that you will, for the first time, get a full Battlefield experience on a console," he adds. "It's the same core, it's the same game, it's the same feature set, there's nothing left out, so to speak. But there's also the 64 players, 60FPS experience that you haven't really seen on a console previously which will move it up a big notch and eliminate some of the gap between PC and console.

"Then it's more of a question on graphical fidelity, graphical detail and stuff like that. But then on the other hand, [PS4 & Xbox One] have some cool features that [benefit] it being a console game. You know, how Battlelog is integrated into the game in a much better way, you have the second screen features, you have the whole friends network which is super nifty on the consoles, and stuff like that."

Battlefield 4 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 1, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions expected to follow at each console's launch.

So after watching more videos from Gamescom two things come to mind:

That's not really an Origin issue I don't think.

It is an Origin issue because there's been times that it has happened to me. I try to rejoin a server and it tells me I'm not connect (or something, can't quite remember). I'll pull up Origin only to find it in Offline mode. Clicking the "online" link at the top fixed the problem.

It must be some quirky connection or something, I never had any repeating origin issue.
Maybe once or twice there were issues with being constantly offline but thats normal for that sort of services, went away after a few hours. Not to mention the downtime for a few days a few months ago.

videogamer.com - DICE downplays Battlefield annualisation rumours

By David Scammell (@VG_Dave) On 27th Aug, 2013 at 10:48am
VG_Dave's Avatar

DICE has downplayed suggestions that the Battlefield series could become annualised, telling VideoGamer.com that it "can't build a game every year".

"I think the core Battlefield idea that we're working on at DICE is... We can't build a game at DICE every year," Battlefield 4 executive producer Patrick Bach said during Gamescom last week when asked whether a new Battlefield title could launch in 2014 to fill the gap left by Medal of Honor.

"You saw with Battlefield 3, for instance, it's not that there's not an urge for more Battlefield. You mentioned Premium – we [had] 18 months worth of Battlefield and people want more things during that time. Now it's been almost two years and people feel like they are continuously playing – we still have huge amounts of players playing Battlefield 3. So I think in general, people apparently want Battlefield all year round."

EA announced that it was taking Medal of Honor out of its shooter rotation earlier in the year, leaving October/November 2014 wide open for a new title. But neither Respawn's upcoming shooter Titanfall or DICE's reboot of Star Wars: Battlefront are due to launch during the period, instead launching during spring 2014 and summer 2015 respectively.

But rather than continue to release standalone titles, could Battlefield eventually turn into a platform that the developer continues to expand with additional maps and campaigns?

"Maybe it [could]," Bach says. "You're touching upon something that we've actually started noticing as well. Battlefield is almost turning into a first-person shooter/vehicular combat platform where people want more things but put into the same core mechanic.

Battlefield 4 screenshot
"So I don't know. Maybe it's a really smart thing to do; maybe it's the completely wrong thing to do. We can see that some games are actually doing it already, like MMOs. You have some free-to-play games [that] continue on the same platform. So I think it's more about the audience and getting all the ducks in a row, so to speak.

"Doing things like we're doing after Battlefield 4, you couldn't do that within [Battlefield 3]. It's not the same game. Some of it might feel and look the same, but if you look under the hood – which people don't do, but if you would do that – there are so many things that have changed. Just the fact that the customisation layer is so much deeper, is based on a complete rewrite of the core handling of assets from the ground-up. Which of course, is something you could build on for the future, but also something that in our crazy hands, we'd probably come up with new things that are incompatible with what we're doing today.

"We're trying to push the boundaries, we're not trying to, like, 'Oh, Battlefield will sell itself. Let's make something half-ass.' So it's a challenge."

Battlefield 4 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 1, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions expected to follow at launch.

Thank you, good Sir. I did try Google, for the record, though as you might imagine that proved less than fruitful in this case (even "GAME bf4 preorder" heh).

Of course DICE can't do a new BF annually, they have 5 DLC to put out over 2 years.

I'm actually sad that they said only 5 DLC. I thought they had said more, but apparently that meant that "new content every week" thing.

Thanks I missed it on my YT feed, Badger always brings a smile to my face :)

I think the best part of that video is about the fire extinguisher. I lost it at that part.

Yea of all the BF3 youtubers, Badger I think is the best. I'm not sure why.

I just know after I stumbled across him that I actually started playing better and ending up closer to the top. Decided to subscribe after that and have enjoyed the laughs that follow.

Battlefieldo - [URL="http://battlefieldo.com/threads/understanding-commander-mode-in-battlefield-4.10750/"]Understanding Commander Mode In Battlefield 4[/URL]

Today, DICE posted another blog in their series "The Road To Battlefield 4" , and this time, we got even more in-depth information about how it works in the upcoming shooter. However, the original blog post is a long read, so I've taken the liberty to shorten it down, and make the message they're trying to send a little clearer.

What Is Commander Mode?

Commander mode is an RTS styled mode that lets players use assets like UAVs and support drops to aid their team in winning the round. Along with base assets, capturing certain objectives in Battlefield 4 gives the commander even more ways to help the team, like being able to call in an AC-130 Gunship to circle an objective.

How does Commander Mode work?

When commanders join the game through a special commander queue, they can communicate with different squads and give orders to squad leaders, who can either accept or deny them. While the commander oversees the team during the round, players can select targets for the commander to deal with, whether that is using a Tomahawk Missile to destroy a tank, or using the infantry/vehicle scan asset to spot enemies. However, if a team does not like the commander, they can start a mutiny kick, in which the commander will be replaced by the next player in the queue.

Along with the blog post, a gif was posted showing some concepts of commander mode, we have taken it and split them into screenshots with detailed information on what is shown.

Only notable change in this screenshot is the addition of the High Value Target option.
While everything listed above seems familiar, the first screenshot showcases something almost unheard of in Battlefield 4: Submarines. It's assumed that like all other commander resources, the submarine will play a support role to the commander and battlefield in a non-pilotable function, like the AC-130 Gunship.

Wintergore uploaded a BF4 gameplay video where he uses the hand flare.

Basically it's just a signal flare. I think this is great because now the "need backup" option on the comma rose is useful as you can see where people need help. As a chopper pilot, this could not be more helpful to me on trying to decide where to go and how to engage and setting priorities.
