Lexar, a leading global brand of flash memory products, today announced the Lexar JumpDrive M10 Secure USB 3.0 flash drive for safe and high-speed file transfer. The new drive offers EncryptStick Lite software, an advanced security solution with 256-bit AES encryption for comprehensive data protection, the ability to create a single password-protected vault that automatically encrypts data, and a File Shredder feature that permanently deletes files from the device so they cannot be restored. Additionally, the drive sports an easy-to-read, always-on capacity meter to determine available storage space at a glance, even when disconnected.

"The JumpDrive M10 Secure is designed for on-the-go executives, power business users, or anyone holding sensitive information who may want more data security than the average person," said Aaron Lee, director of product marketing, Lexar. "With the ability to create password-protected vaults that automatically encrypt data and virtually 'shred' deleted files, customers can rest assured that their data is safe and secure."

Offering read speeds up to 100 MB/s on all capacities, the drive features write speeds up to 20 MB/s on 16 GB capacity, up to 30 MB/s on 32 GB capacities, and up to 55 MB/s on 64 GB and 128 GB capacities. Such speeds allow users to transfer a 3 GB HD video clip in less than 90 seconds, 13 times faster than the 20 minutes it takes using a standard USB 2.0 drive.

The JumpDrive M10 Secure is available now with MSRPs of $34.99 (16 GB), $57.99 (32 GB), $99.99 (64 GB), and $189.99 (128 GB), and includes a three-year limited warranty. All Lexar JumpDrive designs are compatible with PC and Mac systems and are tested in the Lexar Quality Labs to ensure performance, quality, compatibility, and reliability with more than 1,100 digital devices. The JumpDrive M10 Secure is now available at leading retailers and e-tailers worldwide.

I've always wondered, does the encryption happen on the drives themselves or will transfer speeds suffer on slower computers?

3 GB HD video clip in less than 90 seconds
Does that mean a 3 GB file of anything else will take longer? I dislike marketing sometimes.
