EK Water Blocks, Ljubljana based premium water cooling gear manufacturer, is issuing a note regarding changes in EK-FC770 GTX series water block compatibility list. It has come to our attention that EVGA GeForce GTX 770 graphics cards with 4GB of video memory are now incompatible with EK-FC770 GTX due to use of non-standard inductor coils, namely for the Vdd voltage regulation circuity. Force installing the water block on to the affected graphics card will result in dangerously warped circuit board and is as such deemed not safe for use (as shown on the photo below).

The change is also confirmed by EVGA and apparently affects the 4-gigabyte versions only. Effective immediately EK Water Blocks declares the following SKUs no longer compatible with EK-FC770 GTX series water blocks:
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 770 ACX Cooler 4GB GDDR5 (04G-P4-3773)
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked ACX Cooler 4GB GDDR5 (04G-P4-3774)

good thing the acx cooler is already a great cooler. i dont see the point of spending extra on the acx version when the regular blower version is cheaper and you are not going to use the cooler anyway

ive seen three threads people asking why their cards are bending, I didn't care to read but now I know why. I think one post even said it was ok lol

and I would of thought EK would have tested on all variants of the card....

Yeah, I don't know why they wouldn't spend thousands and thousands of dollars buying video cards at $350-450 a piece to test their $100 water block on...

I guarantee you they test their blocks on one reference design and that is it, they rely on customer feedback for the rest.

I wouldn't expect them to test with every card, but i'd at least expect them to have tested with the cards they put in their compatibility list.

Oops... another company who just can't work within the rules. SOS, DD. This should alienate some EVGA GPU customers.

If they were smart they would have left EVGA for a better company while ago anyways.

This issue in my eyes is caused by EVGA using non-standard coils.

most companies, and reputable companies don't have to spend the money. they either send away the new design for testing or have X card sent to them for testing. even if they had to spend some money itll be accounted for in their finances.

its absolutely stupid to create a product which costs money, put it out for sale and then have to spends more money with RMAs etc to rectify the problem. and probably create a revision for said card.

it should of fitted on any cards in the compatibility list and should of been tested on all.

oh really? care to link to a few? ive seen lots of great reviews of this card, and it seems to keep temps nice and low at full load
examples include:

http://hothardware.com/Reviews/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-770-SC-with-ACX-Cooling-Review/?page=1

and

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/55...-acx-overclocked-video-card-review/index.html

and

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/evga_geforce_gtx_770_sc_review,1.html

and it is rated very highly on newegg

EVGA SuperClocked w/ ACX Cooling 02G-P4-2774-KR Ge...

so, where is this card with a crap cooler exactly? i see a good card with a nice cooler that seems very impressive.

The comments I keep seeing suggest the ACX has sound "quality" issues. Makes weird noises and more so at certain rpms which is just bad design.

looks painful
first i guess its incompability of several chipset with the 4gb version but this is about waterblock
so if you wanna buy just make sure its compatible and watch before tightening it up
