As well as any i7 you will find. The very few games which benefit from an i7 are Frostbite engine derived games like Battlefield 3. With a £700 budget i5 offers a much better value for money since it allows a much more powerful graphics card to be used.

Ah ok! This is very nooby but can you post the specs again and label each one please. Sorry im a noob :banghead:

Note that this something I patched up in 5 mins, so there are a lot of parts/prices you can improve for.

You will also need an OS (£70?) among other things like Optical Drive.

Is the optical drive something that burns cds or plays cds?

Yes, general term for CD, DVD, BluRay player, depending on the version. You can get a DVD player (not BluRay) for £20. I personally don't find the need since I installed my PC with a USB stick, but then I realised that it saves me a lot of time downloading games.

GPU side of things you need to situate something powerful enough to render gameplay smoothly. Something as least as powerful as a gtx 280 in terms of performance is what you want. Get the monkey in the barrel on for a DX11 capable card. In terms of POWA' the Gtx 280 was the last gen of >DX10 Cards produced but still performs nicely even with games compatible in Directx11 under DX9/10 settings ming u. The hierarchy would be under the lines through the GTX 280-460-550-630 +/-20% MOS DiF. in underlying Performance. You should look into the 470/480-560Ti-650/660 to play nicely at 1080P with HD GPHX. the most VERSITILE lineup of GPU models would likely be in the 7xxx radeon series to choose from. 7850/7870 can be found relatively cheap. I would take a Look at this http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-GTX-650-1GB-Video-Card-/310743138350?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4859bc002e
gtx 630 is >$100 retail
You can find GPUs cheapest on ebay. GTX 280 in sli = gtx 570 = gtx 480= gtx 550/560ti <= radeon 7870/7850. single gtx 280=radeon 7770
call of duty no lag even at 1680x1050 in HD settings can run into choppiness online with a gtx 280 which you should consider bare minumum. so if i were you I would look into one or more Tier above that performance aspect in regards of a gtx 280 in single card use. 7790 up to 7870. gtx 560ti/650/660ti or gtx 480 which all do well under dx11 with Higher detailing in settings. There is a huge jump in performance in HD settings from a 650 to a 660 though and even greater when you toss the Ti models in the mix. If you must have it all at once lower the CPU from a 4770 to something you can still O/C well even if you remain on the haswell platform and spend the difference on a better GPU. IF I chose a card to run smoothly with >50FPS under high detail at my resolution 1680x1050 it would be a GTX 570/660Ti or 7870.

Click on the Pcpartpicker link I posted a few post earlier, it describes each part perfectly. CPU, memory, etc. If you give us a budget to work with we will be able to return a better list than what I just posted.

Only that? What do you need, only the tower or additional things like monitor, keyboard, etc?

Don't include anything apart from the tower please. I know a fair bit about monitors and other things thanks :)

Cheap please. Thanks

Right, here is what I have in mind (all from Amazon.co.uk for simplicity, there are of course many others like Aria, Overclockers, ebuyer, Scan, etc. which will offer better prices).

£156.96 i5 4570 Brain of the rig,
£76.61 Gigabyte H87-HD3 Motherboard, there are plenty to choose from.
£54.99 2x4Gb 1600Mhz Corsair Cheapest 2x4 1600Mhz kit I can find off Amazon.
£189.30 7950 Sapphire Graphics card, if you look around other sellers you should be able to find free games bundled (Crysis 3, Crysis 3 Blood Dragon and Bioshock Infinite)
£84.99 Seagate 1Tb SSHD Good compromise between speed and price, according to users comes near to SSD speeds with HDD prices.
£59.52 Corsair GS600w "Good enough" power supply. Ideally you should go down to 500w, but other than CX Corsairs with dodgy ratings (30C?! I still use them ) this is the next step up
£17.35 LG DVD drive Optical, you can get rid of this if you don't need it. I personally will include for convenience.
£41.99 NZXT Souce 210 Cheap case of the pick
£69.99 Win7 SP1

Total: £751.70

I'll do the optimisation later

Better RAM with speeds upwards to 2000MHz is if you ever want a stable overclock. IF I were you i would start out with the 4770k and throw in a monster overclock with a better cooler tops. that artic model is >4 years old :f/ just for reference. if you dont plan on Oc.ing stick with stock cooling until you change your mind. stock 4770k is still pretty speedy. probably as fast as my 1st Generation i7-920 @ 4.2.
any overclock above 4Ghz with that CPU will only present astronomical performance gains in terms of Cpu power and FPS gains especially in any HD gaming scenarios.
If you want all the benefits in pc gaming you need to understand that you need to buff up handling with a gpu. Mini ITX that SOB

No budget for 4770K, and also OP is not overclocking. Ram faster than 1600Mhz doesn't bring much performance boost to Haswell, it more or less hits a virtual wall at about 1866Mhz, ekeing out only minute advantages after that.

Parts to swap out for:

£13.82 saved. I am not terribly convinced by this, but if you are not overclocking you should be fine.

Current total: £718.80

You will end up spending a lot more if you are going this route, a lot closer to £1000, and for not much performance increase (and delayed parts). I don't really recommend this route unless you are going to overclock (its not that difficult even with Haswell, but it requires a certain mindset). Additionally, I wouldn't suggest water cooling if you are overclocking, stick with big air, it can keep up with all but the best AIO coolers (Noctua U14S can easily keep up with H100i for example) Why ITX? its a very specialised build for people who absolutely know what they want, and then there is the "ITX tax" which is not worth paying unless you need something small.

What are you smoking oinky? 4770k then recommend using integrated graphics? an i5 is PLENTY capable of gaming and there is virtually no difference performance wise when it comes to gaming comparing an i5 and an i7. And I hate to burst your bubble but an 4770k stock will blow an i7 920 at 4.2ghz out of the water everyday of the week.

Fourstaff is on the money here, i5, 8GB RAM, 7950 class GPU
