Weird ping increase.

Lately i have seen that the ping reply to even my own ip is around 5ms.
this is supposed to be <1ms.

however dont see any impacts on gaming though.

any idea why this is happening?
im using a realtek lan card, but the prob exists on my onboard as well.

i tried the high performance setting, but it only helps a little bit. by decreasing the ping to around 2/3ms.

Are you using ASRock's XFast LAN?

Before looking for something software related that maybe causing that, have you checked the cables to see if both end connectors are still good or if the cable isn't pulling a weird angle or twisting somewhere that might be breaking the copper inside?

replaced all the connections 3 days ago.

and as i said, i think its software related. since its there even when i ping myself, which doesnt require a connection.

are you telling me to install XFastLAN?

... the mode that turns off everything, including networking? There is a safe mode with networking though, but it uses the same drivers so it shouldn't make a difference. Unless something else is causing the latency.

I'd reinstall the drivers. If that doesn't work I wouldn't worry about it if it doesn't affect you in any tangible way.

problem fixed.

i just had to change the bios boot settings. and disable wake on lan. among other things. seems to be fine now.

Well obviously you pick Safemode with networking if the problem is in the networking section, also they thought it was a software issue (not a driver) and in this case Safemode with networking would be a valid test. I am glad you got it sorted though
