so my poor to mediocre 2600k finally crapped out on me last week. topped out at 5.0 and needed a ton of volts, the IMC wouldn't do more than 1886mhz when the multi was above 44. in the grand scheme of things, good riddance.

Tuesday the 17 I chatted with intel about getting an RMA going, online chat was very fast and easy. sent the cpu out Wednesday the 18th. Friday the 20th Intel shipped out a new cpu 2nd day air. scheduled to be delivered on Monday the 23. Now keep in mind this was a standard RMA, not an advance RMA where you buy the cpu from Intel and they refund you once your dead chip arrives.

Fastest, easiest, no hassle RMA I have ever had. Way to go Intel! Now if we could get some other tech companies to be as diligent.

I'm glad your experience was good. I've found many reputable companies, when you do an RMA properly, will give your excellent turn around times. Western Digital will send you back a new drive the day they get it and will send it back by 2 day shipping here in the US. If you need to have Apple fix a device, they will overnight a box to you, that has a label to be overnighted back, then they fix it in a day and overnight it back. I've had Apple turnaround a device in 5 business days total without costing a dime to me, which isn't too shabby.

its funny how different comapnies behave.. I had an issue where Corsair shorted a part in a cooling system, and Got a tech on the line at the end of the day, I had my clips the next day before noon across the country....
others not so good, like recently "by before 6 ships today" turned into a week of waiting .. and everything was in stock, then they begged me to give them a positive review... whatever...

Well for those that buy a new processor, go with the Performance Protection Plan for $25 to get a no-questions asked RMA: http://click.intel.com/tuningplan/

I did it, and used it on my 4770k for the sake of getting a better OC-er, and it worked flawlessly!

I didn't lie about OC-ing my chip or anything, they don't care with the performance plan, but they WILL care with the standard warranty and WILL NOT warranty your CPU if you acknowledge you have overclocked it...and trust me they ask early on. Tough to blame them!

Glad you got your chip RMA'd ranger! :toast:

they never asked if I overclocked or overvolted. I described I came to the conclusion that the chip was dead, and 1 minute later had a RMA number.

I feel it was a poor chip from the beginning and was destined to die early regardless. was the first cpu that's died on me.

I really should call in my tuning plan on this 2600k, temps keep going up and up no matter what cooling I use.

To do a RMA with a processor is very easy, that's not the same thing with other devices, a PSU for example... :D
