They have been doing this for awhile..... I bought my 6970M almost 2 years ago.... Just need to make sure your cooling solution is adequate or Eurocom will fabricate one for you for about $60 normally.... Also check to make sure your power supply can handle the newer cards.... Had to get a 180W Lite-On because my 120W couldn't handle it.

That's unfortunately not completely true. Eurocom is just a Clevo reseller, and Clevo has in the past never cared about complying completely with the MXM specifications.
There have been many issues over the past years, and I don't see this changed with the current machines.
Some examples: Users with P1x0HM based systems had a lot of trouble getting for example the AMD 7970m to work in said system.
The Nvidia 780m, currently latest and best MXM 3.0 card does not work in any Clevo based systems except for the very latest models, meaning the P570wm and the SM series.

Upgrading an older system (even those which support the 680m, same GPU generation, even same architecture) to a 780m won't work. The firmware can take most of the blame, it is simply not MXM compliant.
Seeing how the systems behave it is not far-fetched when one assumes that this behavior is intended by the OEM, simply to force the user to buy a new system and getting rid of the most important upgrade possibility (GPU).

Currently there is not a single laptop (or MXM video card) manufacturer that implements the MXM specifications to 100%.
Those who come closest to it are Alienware and MSI.
The worst by far is Asus.
Clevo (and Eurocom) always claim to have "MXM Systems", but seeing the current (and past) situation, that is simply not correct, at least it is only true in a very limited sense.
