Core i7-990X Overclocking

I recently upgraded my i7-980 with an i7-990X Extreme Edition on my system and was wondering which way would be better to OC my new CPU, either by simply increasing the multiplier or by increasing the Base Clock like how I did on my older 980?

Multiplier. There's a reason that the 'X' series are more expensive.. To give you the unlocked multi. Might as well use it.

Yes, I know. But when I do it that way, I have to leave my memory at the default 1066MHz or else not all 24GB of my memory will be recognized.

I would much prefer to use the multiplier method but what would the difference be if I achieve the same OC by using the base clock method?

-relax the timings
or
remove 12GB and run with 12GB in tri channel [unless using Photoshop, Premier or Other application that demands 24GB, there is little point]

Do both methods and record temps and max clocks; then see which is best for the system, then run with it.

I figured out a way to have my memory run closer to their specified speeds, 1857MHz, and have all 24GB recognized, I simply enabled the XMP Profile on them.

I also use Photoshop CS6 and 3DS Max Design 2014 a lot so, I'm really happy with that!

I was also able to get 4.40GHz 24 hour OCCT and Prime95 stable on my 990X at 133MHz with a 33x multiplier at 1.4V.
