?_Wattage for my setup_?

I would like to know the wattage needed for the setup under my avatar. I have a sff psu really silent and i would like to know if it's enough or not. So give me the exact wattage if you can and how many % I should go over to compensate the power rise at peak load. Thank you.

That PSU is enough for sure. Exact wattage is hard to say, buy one of them cheap watt meters you plug in the wall if you really want to know.

But yeah that system would not draw much. 160W or something if you load everything?

The 8800GT version is 105W so mine should be around that. I just look at cpu 65wand I'm near 170w already so not much room for overclock and Raidmax are not really safe for ocing. How many % do you recommand me to go over the basic need if I want to overclock ?

Max 75W (because that is how much it can pull from the PCIe-slot), but it will not come close to that.

That is total system power consumption, with a more power hungry CPU (AMD FX-60). 160W peak load is probably a high number (for the entire system).

Those calculators always shoot over, the same goes for recommendations. It's because there are power supplies and power supplies. Some are crap (there are 500W units that struggle with 200W..), others are excellent. Yours is probably not that good, but it'll work great as your system is frugal to being with.

Just what i was thinking about 100w idle and 200w while playing games ( i do not remember what my 3800x2 said it was while idle ). And depending on how you have your Screen set it could be 20-50w

He could get some thing like a kill a Watt or one of Zalmans fan controllers that show you the wattage.

Ok that good so I will dump in a cheap and new 430w psu I have in stock and cut the extra wires that I don't need so it don't get room for nothing.

IMHO i think you should go for LC Power LH500H, put it in and don't think about it again

You do really need about 200 w of power but as we all know you are better off with a bit more powerful PSU and a bit less money in your pocket. That way you save money, believe me.

For instance,
Buy a PSU of 450 w power and after a minor current wave u have a burnt up MOBO, dissolved capacitors on it, burnt HDD or worse, a flaming rig

Your new PSU dont need to be LC Power but you do need a PSU with Active PFC and more wattage then your rig needs.

1. The bad 430W PSU's can't do 200W. Don't go too cheap.

2. No. Do not cut the wires.

A decent 430W unit will do. Like the Corsair CX ddd mentioned.

The problem, all, is that Raidmax is a giant POS PSU that would be lucky to actually put out the 380W or close to it on the 12v rail. Get another PSU pronto...

A Corsair CX430 would handle that PC.

The raidmax i dont use it. I got a 430w of a cheaper brand that I trust even more. I have a system with athlon 3200+, 2 stick memory, hdd, odd, 120mm fan and a ATI Radeon HD 4650 AGP with minimum recommend of 400w psu and this cheap psu do the job. It's from @-power who got made by Dynapower. These the ones I used in many system I've built and no comeback at all.

The Raidmax wouldn't be very good indeed, but it would work for such a low powered rig, at least for the time being. Replacing it with something similar or worse makes no sense whatsoever.

Here's a bit about a Dynapower PSU. Hard to find more info, but since it's INCREDIBLY easy to get a decent PSU I really don't see why you should upgrade to a potentially worse unit.

The PSU you see (FSP400-60APN) in my System Specs is pretty much what I consider the cheapest acceptable unit (depending on the other specs, I wouldn't pair it with an i7 4770k and a R9 270x even if it would work).

But then someone else probably knows more about that brand. Maybe they had some rocking underdog units. Until that is proven I would stay away though.
