Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the Toshiba Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State Drive. This new high performance drive upgrade for PCs provides consumers with a reliable and convenient way to increase productivity and offers safe storage for all personal data. Ideal for consumers who need to boost their PC storage performance to the next level, Toshiba's Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State drive is an efficient storage solution that offers faster boot-up and operation for the PC.

"Toshiba's comprehensive ecosystem of devices positions the company at an advantage when understanding consumer needs for storage," said Maciek Brzeski, vice president of product marketing and development of branded storage products, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. "The Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State Drive offers industry-proven caliber and authenticity with leading performance, speeds and capabilities."

With worldwide SSD shipments predicted to rise to 239 million units in 2016, amounting to approximately 40 percent of the size of the HDD market, Toshiba plans to continue bringing superior SSD offerings to market that meet the expectations of consumers.

Ideal for avid gamers, graphics professionals, and multi-taskers who need to boost PC performance to a best in class level, Toshiba's Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State drive is an efficient storage solution that offers faster boot-up and operation for the PC. Toshiba Solid State Drive consumes less power than a standard hard drive. Users will discover they have more time to work and play on their laptop and will have to spend less time worrying about finding the next power outlet.

With a new 7 mm slim and lightweight design, the Toshiba Q Series Pro Solid State Drive works well with Ultrabooks. A mounting spacer is included to work in laptops with traditional full-height 9.5 mm drive bays. It also comes with free, downloadable easy-to-use migration software to help transfer data from existing drive to the Q-Series Pro Solid State Drive.

Backed by a 3-year limited warranty, Toshiba Q Series Pro Solid State Drive is built in accordance with Toshiba's high quality standard offering high performance drive upgrade for PC and is available in 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB capacities.

Pricing and Availability
The Toshiba Q Series Pro PC Internal Solid State drive will be available for purchase at select retailers and on Toshiba.com in late October 2013. The 128 GB model will be $159.99 MSRP, the 256 GB model will be $309.99 MSRP, and the 512 GB model will be $739.99 MSRP.

Why are those prices so high? They can't be much faster than current offerings, given the limitations of SATA 600. And why don't they list those performance specs? Hope these are better than their hard drives...

I don't think those prices are correct (at least not in Asia), if these are the same drives as their THNSNH series that's been selling for a while now (rebrand), then these should be offering very high performance for a very low price. well, in theory at least. but who knows, prices in north America never made much sense.

chinese prices:
128GB - $93
256GB - $179
512GB - $425

MSRP pricing is just a spoof. Street prices will be whatever it takes to be competitive. Supply and demand determines street price. This PR looks more like just hype than anything special about these SSDs.
