Computer on network can't get ip through DCHP or Static ip...

I got a computer for a customer, i got into the office yesterday, when it's at their place it can't get ip through DCHP and if u put in a static ip, no internet at all.

but here when i plug it to the company network, it gets automatically an ip on DCHP and even a static ip on the vpn we got to the company works, when the ip is 192.168.120.x if i change the ip to their ip configuration 192.168.206.x no matter the ip, it's not allowed on the network, i tried changing mac address on the onboard Intel Nic, even tried a Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Ethernet PCI-E x1 card in the computer still the same.

After they had some power trouble at the company it looks like the original ip this computer had, has been taking by a "COM Server" and after that this problem has been no internet access at all.

i tried googling a little myself and i came up with some settings i could try but they was DCHP only, and i can't use that here when i use a specific gateway address for vpn, so what do i do now?

Do you have any network connectivity at all or just no internet? ie can you ping the gateway or any local devices?

when i use the customers company address it's from networks to internet in Network and Sharing Center i have a red cross on the line between them...

you went through the properties of tcpip on the adapter right? wins config, dns, etc... also the home network in properties of mycomputer

what if you try using another adapter (i guess wireless usb or whatever you have on hand)

yap i use what i always use at work, and it didn't help and i tried a "Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Ethernet PCI-E x1" and that didn't work same problem, i also talked with one of my other friends, he said that it's the network down there, that got a problem somewhere, since it works fine with DHCP and static ip here at my work where we use 192.168.120.x

OP already tried another ethernet adapter with no success.

i think the problem is at your customer's office router.

it's something on their network yes, bcs after the "COM Server" started up again and forced it's way on the pc's ip then this happend.

yeah, probably IP conflict occur, they should try clearing the ARP table and IP lease on the DHCP server, but i guess it's not your problem right?

sry for being out, but there has been a lot of other things at work i needed to do, and no it's not on my company's network, it's on a larger customers network this here is wrong and yes we already tried clearing ARP table and IP lease on the DHCP server and that didn't help...

more ideas? bcs i doubt it's a Windows problem tbh

What are they running for DHCP? Is it server based DHCP or is it a router that's assigning DHCP?

Have you tried connecting it to another switch,WLAN SSID, or network segment? Could be that some requests aren't being sent to devices properly due to a problem with some of the networking hardware.

It would be helpful of you to disclose the specs of the network so we know more about what could be wrong.

Is the device being seen by the networking hardware (connected clients status)?

This. At work there is a single Cat5e run that is just barely too long to enable the switch and the device to negotiate. Some devices work (albeit slow,) and others don't at all. I would try a different drop or if you have hardware to test the run, I would do that.

it been around down there, and it has no wifi build in so no, and trying another plug in the wall and cable didn't do anything...

but i am reinstalling Windows 7, bcs it looked like it was having some rights problems, even at the administrator account it said to contact ur administrator if i wanted to change Windows Update settings.

even i doubt this here will do the trick.

Connect it in another room that is on another cable drop.

check if the dhcp server have a mac address white-list. if so, enter the mac address to that list. sometimes net admin restrict access to only known mac addresses.
