A friend of mine is wanting to get into PC gaming and wants me to help him build it. I haven't been keeping up with the latest stuff, so I just had a simple question.

He has about a $2000 budget for just the main PC components, so he doesn't have to skimp out too much on the important things.

He wants a 4770K, which I think is a wonderful decision. Now, is the 4770K supporting quad channel memory? If that is the case, I just have to find a LGA 1150 motherboard that supports quad channel memory and then have him get four sticks of RAM (4 x 4 GB), right?

4770K (skt 1150) supports dual channel RAM. LGA 2011 supports quad channel.

Erocker addressed the dual channel bit, but if you do plan to populate all of the slots, buy a kit with four sticks in it rather than two separate two stick kits.

Thanks for the assistance. I see that it is dual instead of quad channel.
