Prolimatech and Arctic independently announced support of their flagship VGA heatsinks for AMD's Radeon R9 290X graphics card. The MK-26 and MK-26 Black Series from Prolimatech, and the Accelero Xtreme III and Accelero Hybrid from Arctic, each support the R9 290X, and will by the same token, support the upcoming R9 290. The three are capable of handling the >250W TDP heat output of the R9 290X.

only problem is that these third party coolers tend to throw the heat around in the case instead of exhausting it through the back.

gets worse with more than one card in there.

Do these coolers have good enough VRM cooler too? Last time I checked most of them are insufficient.

Most dual fan coolers do this - Its the sacrifice you have to make.... Lower noise and in most cases better temps then the reference leafblower style coolers.

Shouldnt be a problem so long as your case has decent airflow. my 680s hit just above 60'c depending on ambient temps and the game im playing. In the rare cases I have seen temps go as high as 70-72'c but no higher than that because the ambient temps are so high I break out the air con and cool the room from 30'c back to around 22-26'c when temps are more acceptable.

Yes they look a little on the weak side, although it depends on the cards VRM's too. if the 290X's vrm's are any thing like the 6970 reference should be a none issue. Mine actually run cooler than the GPU.

As these 3rd party coolers bring temps down in the 50 range, the amount of heat is minimal.
Even at those temps, the fans cool the fins to much lower temps than the core.
Even going with multiple cards, the temps will still be much lower than cards that blow back of the case.

top of case mounted radiators end up getting cooked because in case ambient will be in the 30C area even with a 20C room ambient
