Thermalright has just announced new editions of three of its CPU coolers, the TRUE Spirit 90M, TRUE Spirit 120M and Macho 120. Known as Rev.A, the tweaked versions of said coolers include updates like Nickel plated heatpipes, a black anodized top fin, and a mounting system that no longer requires a backplate. The TRUE Spirit 120M Rev.A also comes with a new fan holder.

The TRUE Spirit 90M Rev.A measures 102 (L) x 55 (W) x 125 (H) mm and has three 6 mm copper heatpipes as well as a TR-9225 92 mm fan operating at 600 to 2000 RPM. The TRUE Spirit 120M Rev.A is 132 by 57 by 145 mm, it weighs 470 grams, and features four 6 mm heatpipes, plus a TY-120 120 mm fan that can work at 700 to 1500 RPM. As for the Macho 120 Rev.A, it is 120 (L) x 102 (W) x 150 (H) mm and boasts five 6 mm heatpipes and one TR-12025-BW 120 mm fan going at 600 ~ 1300 RPM. All three coolers feature a nickel plated copper base.

The Rev.A TRUE Spirit 90M, TRUE Spirit 120M and Macho 120 cost €24.99, €29.99 and €34.99, respectively and will become available on November 18th.

If they perform as well as they look then they should fit in nicely with the other quality HSFs in this price range.

I find the lack of a backplate to be quite worrisome on coolers this large and heavy. The only way I'd feel comfortable using something like this is if it was in a desktop orientation.

There's always the possibility that Thermalright has come up with an innovative and secure mounting system that doesn't require a backplate. On the other hand, their fortunes have waned since the TRUE so perhaps this is a cost-cutting measure. Time will tell...

yeah for < 500grams heatsink without backplate is ok but if more than that better if use backplate so the mainboard wont have too much pressure
