Upgrade Advice....Finally!!

right guys

here my decision.i have been wanting to upgrade for ages now,so....

im putting 2k in the savings.1k for xmas.around 600-800£ for a new system

heres what i think

PowerColor R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Display...

Intel Core i5 3470 3.20GHz Socket 1155 6MB L3 Cach...

OCZ 750W Fatal1ty Series Semi-Modular PSU | Ebuyer...

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Socket 1150 HDMI D-Sub DVI.. | ...

Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K SSD 2.5" SATA-III Read.. ...

comes in at 685£.

maybe i need better ram??

That motherboard is not compatible with that cpu.
For i5 3xxx u need z77/h77 mobos

Your existing board already supports that CPU. No need for a new board.

8GB of RAM is enough today, 16GB for longevity but its really unnecessary.

The PSU isn't going to benefit you.

I'm liking the SSD and GPU.

Have you thought about a new LCD? Been seeing some 27" from £150.

Thanks for that.
Reading the reviews, it doesn't seem to be very reliable in quite Alot of cases
Would it be easier just to get a sata3 board.

Nope, it is a LGA1155 CPU and a LGA1150 board. The CPU wont fit on the socket, regardless of the BIOS version.

OP: I assume that you don't OC.

socket 1155 cpu will not work in a z87 socket 1150 board.....
