How would you compare it to 27" IPS-Glass Panel Pro LED Monitor WQHD 2560x1440 ?
Other than cost, from the description "This is a Grade A-1 panel, which means no image defects are allowed. That means no backlight bleed, no dead pixels, no focus issues at the edge, nothing wrong at all." And included with the DVI D cable

Are both limited to 60Hz?

Read the reviews on the other but for an a-1 screen that is pretty good. I think it is the same as the $399 Auria at Microcenter.

Would my XFX 5870 XXX Ed. 1000/1300 drive the monoprice unit without issues? Most gaming I do is Trainsim 2013 and Planetside2

But they do say "Once you calibrate it, the Monoprice puts out a fantastic image. The contrast ratio suffers due to the brightness limitation, but color and grayscale accuracy, as well as gamma, are spot-on"
And it has very good lag time 22.5 vs 27.3 on the $100 higher price unit I linked.

Got my monitor.
Bright, minor edge backlight bleeding only on a black background, NO DEAD PIXELS!!!

Great monitor for the price.

Do you have a link for color calibration settings from default? It's good but I'm sure it could be a lot better.

I dont know if you can decipher from that review just what they did set the levels at, but might be worth shot
