Is it possible now to OC the R9 290(x) without the need of flashing the ASUS BIOs or using CCC

I don't think there is.

Just flash it to the Asus X or non-X depending on which card you have.

I don't mind flashing but i just hate the ASUS GPU Tweak utility

No it hasn't. AB never offically supported the R9 290(x) and had no voltage control

i dont know what you are talking about.

you can overclock any of the R9 cards out of the box with CCC.

my 290 pro is at 1100 currently.

what does voltage control have to do with anything? it has no bearing on the ability to overclcok.

If you actually read my OP you would clearly see I said OC without CCC. And volt control does influence how high of a OC you can achieve. My ole 7970 did 1240/1850 @1.25v but couldn't go further but @1.3v it was able to do 1325/1850. S

ok, i missed the "without CCC" part.

my bad.

However, the latest Afterburner beta has both clock and voltage offset for R9, and trixx is coming (W1zzard submitted it to Sapphire)

So yes, you can without CCC.
