I have a low-mid end rig which sole purpose is to run games at about the same quality a console would do (current gen, i.e. PS4 XBOX one) and although does its job well I have about 200 USD that I ca use for an upgrade, what would you upgrade?

Definitely gpu. While I agree an sdd would be great too, the gpu would yield some nice performance increase, much more tangible results for gaming.

just want to point out, an ssd would not take up all that cash, the rest i would put away till i had enough for a good single card.

Well in my opinion there isn't much need to upgrade the GPU then. I too will say to grab an SSD and make everything feel faster at once!

Thanks guys, prices here go a little higher than in the US and newegg doesn't ship here, and since my gpu was just released this March you can deduce is not that old. I'm gonna go for the SSD and upgrade gpu next year, Would it be a good idea to get a r9 270 and set it up in crossfire with my current card?

Considering your resolution, I have to agree with Peet and marsey on the ssd choice; it's going to make our whole system feel snappy and fresh.

If you are upgrading the gpu next year, I wouldn't even worry about trying to plan it now. However, my aim would be to have a single powerful card over a crossfire of sorts. Wait to see what cards and prices are available at your time of upgrade.

SSD or update to a FX 6300/6350 or above, your GPU at that res is perfectly fine.

Upgrade from an Bulldozer FX6100 to an Piledriver 6300/6350 is tiny. Not worth the spend. Whereas GPU upgrade from an 7790 to the R9 270 would more than double his FPS. Granted his current 7790 is enough for gaming this resolution either way.

It would be a good 10/15% increase? and once you sell off the 6100 it be a cheap upgrade really. Thats true but the 7790/GTX 650 TI Boost are plenty powerful enough for his rez and most games.

It won't be a consistent increase, some applications won't improve, some will decrease. Most will increase maybe 15%, but others might increase 5%. It's a sensible gamble. Small overclock of 300-500Mhz will give him Piledriver performance for free.

None will decrease it will all be increase no matter what the application is as its a faster all round CPU. All depends if he likes to OC? I for one don't, so id get the 6350 or the 8350

The Piledriver has some areas which perform the same or worst as Bulldozer. Granted the majority perform better.

AMD FX-8320 - 3.5GHz v AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz. Only 100Mhz difference. Not enough to change the results much classic Bulldozer v Piledriver.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/698?vs=434

You'll see that although Piledriver wins the majority, its mostly a slight. 1 second faster, 0.5 second faster, 2 seconds faster etc. Half of the tests show both CPUs performing virtually the same, although in Piledrivers favour. There is a few which actually favoured the Bulldozer like 7-Zip, StarCraft 2, Microsoft Excel 2007 simulation, Windows Media Encoder 9 x64.

An FX 6100 to 8350 is a bigger jump that would make sense as you'll benefit from additional cores, more total cache as well as the minor architecture tweak. But GPU would still yield better gaming performance still.

I trust Anantech as far as I can throw them, so not very far, same as Toms hardware.

Now if you look at this review > http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_fx_8350_8320_6300_processor_4300_performance_review,3.html You will see the 6300 vs the 6100 that the 6300 wins in every single benchmark and by a good margin. The improvement between bulldozer and piledriver is alot more then you think, trust me I know from my mates 8120 to the 8350 the 8120 is a slug compared to the 8350.

Obviously a new bigger faster GPU will yield better FPS increase but for a greater cost and not needed for his res. If he sold the FX6100 lets say for $100? he could get that 15% increase in performance for about $40.

Even on Guru 3D a lot of the results between the two are very close, often the 6300 pulls ahead by a few points, a few frame rates or a few seconds. Nothing ground breaking with an exception of a few tasks which the 6300 shows significantly more distance. You also have to attribute that to the 200Mhz advantage of the 6300.

We really need a clock for clock review.

Also keep in mind its up to 15%. That is anywhere from 0-15%. It only needs to perform at 15% in one test to get that stamp of approval.

Techspot research the Piledriver vs Bulldozer and says there is an average of only 6% between the Bulldozer and Piledriver architecture or 5.5% when measured across 130 benchmarks. (Keep in mind Piledriver has a clock speed advantage too)

Once you personally play with both Archs where i have you will see what I mean. Ive tested my friends Bulldozer 8 core vs my Piledriver 8 core and the difference is big, from benchmarks, to gaming, to transcoding, to temperature, to just clicking in windows, the speed difference is very noticeable considering my 8350 almost doubled my FPS in games from my PII 965 and destroys it in anything else, hell Ive got a i7 970 here and Im willing to bet my 8350 will beat it to. Also the link you gave me was gaming benchmarks which is pointless as the difference will always be minimum. You need real life programs to see the difference. Try encoding 8 TV shows at once in ConvertXtoDVD and you will see the difference ;) or even DVD FAB.
