While tossing and turning in bed, great minds often stumble upon the same philosophical questions of life. Are you there God? What is love? And what are the definitive attributes that differentiate a gaming motherboard from regular motherboards? Now ASRock elaborates the definition of real gaming motherboards with their new Killer Series - Z87 Killer, B85 Killer, 990FX Killer and FM2A88X+ Killer!

The world's first motherboard with a PCIe Gen2 x2/SATA M.2 socket: 990FX Killer
Apart from the ludicrously fast Killer LAN that speeds up networking performances up to 5 times faster, this time ASRock has also added more surprising elements into the game, 990FX Killer is the world's first motherboard to have a PCIe Gen2 x2/SATA M.2 socket!

The onboard M.2 socket is a new interface for connecting Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) solid state drives or other devices. ASRock's 990FX Killer supports M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s modules and M.2 PCI Express modules up to Gen2 x2 10Gb/s, which is 2X faster compared to other M.2 Gen2 x1 solutions that are limited to 5 Gb/s. It pushes your NGFF SSDs to their limits while reducing tons of load time and boosting overall performance.

Other features that make the Killer Series real gaming motherboards include Premium Gold Capacitors, Digi Power, Purity Sound 115dB SNR, Gaming Armor, Key Master, F-Stream and XSplit 3 month premium license which is worth $24.95 for free!

The FM2+ motherboard for gamers: FM2A88X+ Killer
ASRock FM2A88X+ Killer doesn't just simply possess the same feature sets like the rest of the Killer Series. Not only does it support FM2 APUs, but also FM2+ Kaveri APUs, so that users may have a taste of PCIe 3.0. The motherboard also has Premium Gold Capacitors and Digi Power for providing smooth voltages to the CPU Vcore. 4 slots of dual channel DDR3 that supports up to 2600+MHz. Triple monitor by the HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub connectors on the rear i/o. Plus a total of 8 SATA3 connectors and an exclusive Fatal1ty mouse port for winning!

ASRock's Killer Series sets an example of what a real gaming motherboard is all about. Not just fancy specifications and luxury components, but more about the small designs that deliver an awesome gaming experience. With a complete line of Z87 Killer, B85 Killer, 990FX Killer and FM2A88X+ Killer, now it's the player's turn to choose their weapon of choice!

.....as much as i love my x79 extreme 9.... wouldn't get get it solely for gaming......Unless your running tri or quad gpu's on an uber machines. And seriously....Killer? Total deal breaker on name alone :shadedshu: If they want the RoG crowd...some new marketing is definitely in order.

a rebrand of the fatality series...

looking at the 990fx it seems a cleaner version, less phases but improved?!

....so from fatality to killer..... I think the marketing dept is a fan of mortal combat or is trying to revive the 80's or something....or maybe im just getting old. But i guess they can call it FART DAISIES for all its worth ...its all about the performance.

i'd like to think it wants to use the slang term for cool, as in 'yo that car is so killer', but that's probably not what they had in mind so yes, inappropriate

I've been using Z87 Killer since it was released, it was my first Asrock product. Great value and really great board, nothing to complain.

Haters gonna hate, but the products are not bad, ASRock has been up there with the best for awhile. And guess what, not overpriced either.

A88X Killer is my pick here, the only red-black themed FM2+ board I've seen so far (Gitgabyte UP4 is great, but the on-board audio sucks), and I really want to go with a theme in my build. But I don't like that it doesn't have a DisplayPort connector, also the phases could've been stronger. Oh well, I'll wait for reviews, none of this is sooner than the 14th of January anyway.
