Ive been reading the new on the techpowerup app for a while now and decided it was time i made a account and posted on the forums:)

I need some advice on a PC i want to build this holiday and figured you guy would be able to help me out. The PC will be for gaming and everyday use. Its probably a little overkill but that's okay with me.

I am pretty much set on most of the parts for this PC but i am always open to change if you see some way to improve the build or to save some money.

CASE: Fractal Design Define R4 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352021&Tpk=n82e16811352021
MOTHERBOARD: Asus Maximus VI Hero http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131989&Tpk=n82e16813131989
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116901
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LP 16GB 1600MHz http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233280&Tpk=n82e16820233280
CPU Cooler: Corsiar H100i http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181032&Tpk=n82e16835181032
GPU: EVGA GTX 660ti 3GB (I already own this from a previous PC and will be using it in this new PC for the time being)
HDD: Seagate SSHD 2TB http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178380&Tpk=n82e16822178380
PSU: ?? (i have a Antec NEO ECO 520C 520W that i could us for this build. I think 520W should be enough for now until i upgrade later. I know a better power supply would be optimal but do you think this one would be okay to use in this new system?)

Some questions/concerns i have:
is the PSU going to cut it in this new PC?
A SSD would be nice to have but i went with the SSHD to save some money...what do you think?

let me know your thoughts on this build, should i change out some parts?/any recommendations?
THANKS:lovetpu:

I will comment on the PSU. Yes you will be fine. 520W should be plenty.
About SSDs well they do have their advantages, but if you don't need them, you'll be fine, too. I have two SSDs and two normal HDDs, and honestly while I do notice performance increases, I really could do just fine without them.

As for the other stuff, I'll leave that to the more experienced users. I've been out of the game for quite some time now; there's a socket 1150 now?

That's $75 cheaper (including shipping).

CPU cooler: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

Saves you $80. My reasoning here is that if the money saved leads to you getting a much better GPU, then it's a better choice than being able to overclock 200-300MHz more than an air cooler.

Don't bother with that SSHD. Better off getting 'just' a 2TB HDD, which would be slightly cheaper too.

You can then either get a new video card as well, or a new PSU.

Alternatively, you can get the unlocked i5 Haswell to save some further money, and then you could probably buy both a new PSU and a new video card.

Really, if it were me, I would feel a lot more comfortable with this build with about 650 watts PSU, something like the Seasonic x-650, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151088. It's darned reliable, and cool-running. I've had one running my server with 8 hard drives for 3 years straight, 24/7. However, that's not to say you COULDN'T run with what you have....but the extra breathing room is what I would want.

The newer RM series from Seasonic are slightly cheaper.

Looks a lot like what I'm building, except (probably) going MSI Z87-GD65 and no video card (will wait for either custom R9 290 to fill the market or way a bit more for Pirate's Islands.
The rest is what I got on my System Specs.

Try 4570K, if you want OC.
4670K*

I might make a build log as well.
