I've had a GTX 560 Ti for about 2 years now. I've never overclocked it, idle temperature is 29-35C. But lately, the HWMonitor has been saying the video card "TMPIN0" is maxing at 76C, at least in one game (only tried it with Deus Ex HR Director's Cut. Haven't tried it with the regular version or any other games yet). But when I alt tab, no matter how fast, the temperature in Precision and the current value in MWMonitor are down to 58. I just cleaned the fan and it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Is the temperature really in the 70's? And not sure why.

They're probably not entirely clear. I'm not sure what the best way to clean the fan is, though. Should I just keep the fan still and spray air into them? Is that safe?

I don't know if it was always like that or not. I put the fan up to 78% and turned on Vsync in the control panel and I'm still getting 70C after a few minutes. I tried it with Sleeping Dogs this time.

Yes I would keep the fan from spinning as the high speed rpms are not good for it and sometimes fins even break and yes canned air is perfect. Vsync can make it run cooler but only if its making the FPS slow to 60 or what ever you set to.

Take the card apart and clean the GPU chip with alcohol and apply new contact material. Wipe down the fan so it nice black again, vacuum the aluminum fins and you will be back in business. Everybody should do this at least one time a year unless the rig PC is in a server room. Word of wisdom from a man with a Golden Retriever.

Well, I don't have $250 to spare for a new video card, so I'm not going to be taking this one apart. I've just always thought of 60C as the ideal temperature under load. But I've heard there isn't much reason to worry until temperatures are consistently over 90C and shutdowns or artifacts occur.

The exact reason why other people take their cards apart - to save money. It is not that difficult.
