Hi, i have a 9550, but don't stop reading, even though i'm sure you've all heard far too much about that card.

On the ATI bios page, it says that my card (connect3D, radeon 9550, 256mb) has Samsung 5.0 memory. When i pulled the bios off of my card, i found it was compiled at a later date (i think, im taking it thats what the date is in the file?) and just as a final precaution, i decided to check for myself what memory i had.

On the chips, it says
----------------------
| SAMSUNG . . . . 519 |
| k4D551638F - TC40 |
----------------------

on the bottom of the Bios page, it says "If possible include memory manufacturer and speed (last two digits on memory chips)." i assumed that this means i have samsung 4.0 chips, instead of 5.0.....
Could they have updated thier design, or am i definately getting it wrong?

I am not sure about the design but obviously you are lucky and you get 4.0ns memory. Probably the producer finaly exhaust his stock of 5.0 and 6.0ns memory just on time for you ;) . You also can distinguish what type of memory you have installed on the board (not what should be - 5.0ns) with overclocking. 4.0ns memory is rated for 250MHz (x2), 5.0ns probably is rated for 200MHz. If you can reach 250+ MHz the memory is 4.0ns :D .

Hope that it will be useful for you  .

oh right, so having 4 is better than having 5? thats good, i didn't know those numbers were the nanosecond timings :)

So, should i just leave the flashing alone, just in case, either way? i mean, i really could do with not messing anything up, as my pc is pretty messed at the moment :(

I know i shouldn't double post, but does anyone have any idea of what type of bios to use, like a 5 ns one, or a 4 ns one?

Would it be useful of me to upload my bios from my card to the collection, or should i leave it?

Thanks :)
