Confusion about RAM

Hi,

Got a quick question, so I got a Kingston memory module which Part Number is KVR800D2N6/1G.

The memory is bad so I'm trying to buy another stick from ebay.
I actually found it there, the same exact model, but the person selling it says its a ecc memory.
That's why I'm confused... They are exactly the same model but one is ecc and the other is non-ecc?
Is that possible ?

I think the seller just advertised it wrong. if you google the specs, it doesnt say anything about it supporting ECC

That's what I thought, the seller even says it won't work on home computers, just servers.
I'll just contact the seller and ask about it.

All of the KVR800D2N6 model memory is CL6 DDR2-800 Non-ECC -->Kingston Part Number KVR800D2N6

ask him to confirm that its the real part/model number - even sending you a pic if youre really interested in the RAM just to triple check it.

Id say nobody really buys DDR2 anymore but a fair few people still do for older builds. reconditioning a C2D or C2Q machine as a file server isnt a bad idea if one is required.

Yup I messaged the seller to confirm it, now I'm waiting for reply.
Yes the ram is for an old pentium 4.
