Good file hosting/uploading site?

Anyone know of a good and free file hosting website? I have been making videos, and uploading to youtube, and since youtube likes to re-encode to something of shittier quality, id also like people to be able to download the raw encoded videos from Movie Studio, to view in the actual HD quality.

However, if you're somewhat serious about these videos, and a price like 5-10$ is something you can afford, I'd suggest that you invest it and save yourself a headache. Good and free doesn't rhyme these days. It's hard to find a service that offers the bandwidth and the speed, free.

Youtube is the best quality your going top get for free. Its actually not bad but I don't like how they switched to auto quality. Have you thought about transferring videos with drop box? You can upload a video and e mail a link so people can download it. And I think it will stream up to 15 min

I am serious with the videos, I do put a lot of time into editing them. They are mountain biking GoPro videos. But I do not have a steady income to pay monthly for say Vimeo. But if I did, I would definitely pay for Vimeo, as a lot of the official GoPro promo videos are hosted there. Some are youtube though.

I will definitely look into dropbox account though to let people (friends and relatives) who want to watch, be able to download and watch it in crystal clear HD.

It can get pretty bad if you have a video with a lot of motion/movement (mountain biking, motocross, etc. ) since 1080p max bitrate that re-encode to is about 10mbps. I encode my videos when I finish editing with variable bit rate of avg 25mbps max 50mbps, 50mbps because thats the max the GoPro records at. The final product looks awesome(before youtube), especially with a little bit of color correction. I also do 2 pass, and deblocking filter enabled.

I'd also look for tutorials to encode for youtube. The wrong codec will look real awful.

yeah i tjink thats one of the issues. Movie Studio doesnt have much video codec choices. Sony and MainConcept are the main ones, and they are both pretty poopy

I read a lot of people encode to uncompressed AVI and then use another encoder for youtube.

well i used phtobucket! works well/but there is a limit on the bandwith
