Lenovo today announced the 1U ThinkServer RD340 two-processor rack server, the storage-rich, 2U ThinkServer RD440 two-processor rack server, and the ThinkServer TD340, a new enterprise-grade, two-processor tower server, designed for customers who need full enterprise capability in a tower form factor. Along with the two-processor rack and tower servers, Lenovo announced the ThinkServer SA120, a modular and scalable rack-mount, direct-attached storage (DAS) enclosure. Together these product additions expand the ThinkServer enterprise portfolio, addressing more workloads and providing better choices for customers.

The 1U ThinkServer RD340 and 2U ThinkServer RD440 rack servers are ideal solutions for small- to mid-sized education, retail, professional service, state and local government, and healthcare customers seeking feature-rich server solutions at budget-friendly prices. Both two-processor servers are equipped with the next-generation Intel Xeon E5-2400 v2 series processors with up to 10 cores each - delivering 25 percent faster performance than previous-generation, award-winning ThinkServer systems.

Offering an impressive array of standard features and expansion options, the RD340 and RD440 servers cost effectively power the most demanding infrastructure, collaboration and line-of-business applications. Both rack servers support up to 192GB of memory. Standard, built-in features include hot-swappable storage, integrated RAID and redundant power and cooling. The ThinkServer RD440 is storage-rich supporting up to 48TB of internal storage - twice the capacity as the previous-generation servers. Optional ThinkServer RAID adapters are available to provide additional RAID levels and performance- enhancing features. The RD340 and RD440, as with the TD340, give customers the flexibility of leveraging their currently deployed management tools or using Lenovo's suite of life-cycle tools at no additional charge.

ThinkServer TD340: Performance-packed Tower Server with Enterprise Reliability
Equipped with up to two Intel Xeon E5-2400 v2 series processors, the ThinkServer TD340 packs performance and expandability in an advanced tower form factor, giving educational institutions the power to run strenuous workloads, such as web, campus cloud computing, entry virtualization, and collaborative applications. When equipped with Stoneware webNetwork software, school administrators, students and staff can access data, applications and services from a multitude of devices and platforms using just a browser.

The ThinkServer TD340 is also ideal for healthcare facilities, manufacturing organizations, branch offices and mid-sized businesses running database and CRM - in addition to infrastructure and point-of-sale applications. It includes enterprise reliability features and can be configured with hot-swap hard disk or solid-state drives, redundant power and integrated RAID, with the capability to add RAID performance-enhancing features, such as CacheCade Pro 2.0/FastPath.

With generous memory, storage and I/O expansion capability, the ThinkServer TD340 is highly versatile and can scale with customers as their business grows. The TD340 can be configured to support up to 192GB of memory, up to 32TB of internal storage, and has up to six available PCIe/PCI slots that enable rich I/O options covering various protocols, speeds and interfaces - including advanced RAID, and 10Gb Ethernet.

ThinkServer SA120: High-value DAS Enclosure
The ThinkServer SA120 is a dense, rack-mountable direct attached storage enclosure that's ideal for datacenter deployments, distributed enterprises or small businesses. Featuring both 2.5" and 3.5" drive bays in a single 2U enclosure, the ThinkServer SA120 provides an optimal tiered storage platform. It's ideally suited for workloads that demand high performance and maximum capacity. The scalable design addresses a range of workloads including data backup, file/print, collaboration applications, video streaming and caching. A single ThinkServer SA120 DAS enclosure can be configured to support twelve 3.5-inch SAS high-capacity, front-panel drives and four optional rear-panel 2.5-inch SSD drives for expansive direct storage capacity. Servicing the SA120 is easy and convenient with tool-less hot swap components and shared parts from ThinkServer rack servers. For customers who require versatile expansion, high redundancy and efficiency, the SA120 is an impressive value at just a fraction of the cost and complexity of typical storage area network solutions.

Convenient and Flexible Enterprise Service Offerings
Lenovo has a suite of service offerings that help customers accurately budget for the level of protection required to keep their businesses up and running. Optional upgraded services are available to help maximize uptime and productivity. Priority Level Support provides access to priority call routing, escalation management and basic software support.

"With our new high-performance, feature-rich ThinkServer two-processor servers and scalable, rack-mountable ThinkServer DAS enclosure, we continue to round out our enterprise product portfolio," said Roy Guillen, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Product Group, Lenovo. "We now offer customers more and better choices to address an expanded set of capabilities and workloads."

"Businesses of all sizes want to deploy flexible, affordable, yet powerful datacenter solutions. The Intel Xeon Processor E5 family provides a versatile, high-performance, energy-efficient foundation for Lenovo's new ThinkServer tower and rack servers that scale to meet a range of workload demands." said Shannon Poulin, vice president, Intel Data Center Group.

Pricing and Availability
The ThinkServer RD340 and RD440 are available now and start at $1,179 and $1,439 respectively. The ThinkServer TD340 and ThinkServer SA120 DAS will be available in February.
