I've seen some reports about these CPUs not being "true" eight core and that Intel chips perform just as well blah blah, but damn. For those prices though it's an absolute bargain. If I was to build a second PC I'd go for AMD to see what it's all about. I put an FX-8320 in my friend's budget gaming rig and another friend went the same route as a result. Solid performance for the money.

I'm thinking of getting one, I have a MC about 45 minutes away. Figured I'd throw it in a Biostar ta970 board, some G. Skill Ripjaw x's, and either an HD 7870 GHZ edition or a GTX 760 for a complete rebuild.

AMD never stated there won't be new FX processors or AM3+ processors in the future. Look at the roadmap again.

I would not hold my breath. Most things point away from AM3 and towards APU's. I am not a 'Never' sayer but, does not look all that likely.
