Thanks. The term "dedicated" is a bit confusing and not really valid anymore because generally now all server boxes are such. But it was used here because you "dedicated" a separate machine to the server. One that could have considerably lower power than your gaming rig as it only needs to manage packets. Some (mostly earlier) games would allow you to host a multiplayer "server" right from the same machine you were also playing on. So it's both a server and a client. That's obviously not ideal in any way, shape, or form.

Anyone else using Mantle and noticing way larger improvements than the "reviews" are claiming?

With my system...

In dx11 @ maximum settings 1920x1080, I get 60'ish fps...
With Mantle @ maximum settings 1920x1080, I get 90'ish fps...
Frame rates seem wildly stable in this game as well.

That's a far cry from 5-10% and I'm not exactly CPU bound...

The servers are not dedicated, they are controlled.

Good ol days? Hmmm, i was born in 93. First game i played was on an SNES when I was like 5 or so, then played N64, then playstation 2 and original xbox. I only started playing PC games when Counter Strike Source came out, so when i was like 13-14, ~2007. Started having an interest in computers at the same time.

Argh well the damn thing may be stable for me now but now I am plagued by inexplicable KIAs at least once every few games. I mean my freakin tank just exploded for no reason with no one else around and no commanders playing on Silk just now and I'm "Killed In Action".

So I've noticed that when I have a lot of tabs open in Firefox (don't even have to be loaded), I get a pretty massive hit in performance. Something are 20 fps. This in spit of the fact that I use IE for Battlelog. Don't know if anyone else has had similar experience with other browsers doing the same thing.

I close out of Battlelog once I get in game. Call me OCD but when I game I want my PC to focus on gaming.

Is anyone else finding Second assault maps are harder on GPU? I find 10-15 fps less on new maps (DX. Not using Mantle). They are really gorgeous maps though.

Yea I noticed it on Firestorm and Oman. Caspian seems fine for me.

I've also noticed how much I love the FN57. It has the fastest rate of fire for any non auto pistol and has the second highest bullet speed. This means I can spam it and not have to be too concerned about leading my target. The only time I'd loose fights (with full health) in the pistol only servers was when it was close range against someone using the G18 or Mag/REX. Only time I'd loose to other guns was when I was already down on health a lot. Now that I've got the heavy barrel it's even better. I was using the compensator and I think it increased the spread too much leading to missed shots. The increase in muzzle climb does not appear that bad as I'm able to hit the target more often then before with the compensator.

Apparently you don't run Battle Screen. It is a useful tool and at times an advantage...

As for the KIAs I guess I am just noticing them more now because I'm actually able to play and not crash. And while there are random heavy explosives around with a detonator at least on some maps I don't think that was what got me either in that tank based on where I was. Though dying by that would give me a KIA and not a kill to the player pretty sure.

Anyone having issues getting artifacts plus a hard lockup? I don't notice any artifacts in game until it locks up. It usually takes about 1-2 hours of playing until it happens. GPU temps are below 85C. I attached a picture I took of the screen.

Really hoping it's a BF4 problem and not an issue with my card. I don't want to have to RMA my shiny new 780Ti.

I actually forgot about the battlescreeen. When I did throw it up on the second screen I didn't really use it. I may give it another shot. A full view of the battlefield is never a bad thing.

I just unhooked mine because I find myself using my mini map 95% of the time so I won't take the hit for the
little amount of time I glance at it. Thinking about setting up the laptop and using it
instead of another monitor. Not even sure I can yet, but gonna test it out.
