Not necessarily, the Evo pulls ahead with Rapid Mode in non-raid config.

The pro is faster period, the EVO was introducted to replace the Vanilla 840, why would they make it faster then the pro if it was a substitute for that category, also the pro has Rapid Mode now thanks to an update

If you are gonna RAID 0 them, be careful. I have read some reports that write speeds drop to below single drive levels.

The pro is better a bit more often than it's worse, but by such a tiny amount, and again not consistently enough, to justify it's price compared to the EVO. Like right now the price on the pro 512 is so terrible you can get the 1TB EVO for only $60 more. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/743?vs=1115
