Can you tell me which one of those is the best solution to the 290X series?

As much as I love the windforce x3 from Gigabyte, I'd choose the Tri-X from Sapphire. The Tri-X should perform a bit better, only it might be a little noisier as I've found the windforce x3 to be one of the quietest coolers I've had for graphics cards (had it on 580SOC and 780).

Jesus thanks for the so quick response ;). I have already installed a decent quiet cpu cooler so I don't mind having some noise from the GPU only.

^ depends on the price difference. both cards are good. but i have read some comments on Gigabyte Windforce cards with problems. Better go with the Sapphire.

~recommended by a sapphire user hehehe

Sapphire Tri-X 290x has faster fans and better strategy to cool the GPU so it should perform faster.
Sapphire Tri-X 290x is better in overclocking and has better benchmark scores so it can run at higher clocks with lower temps.

Can confirm, just picked up 1 Tri-X after having issues with the Asus Direct Cu II model. Little bit more expensive, so I have to wait a few months to get my second one.

Don't worry about the Tri-X not having a backplate. This was my main gripe with it, turns out it's as sturdy as can be...because the heatsink runs the length of the card.

Tri-x has bad VRM(non issue unless you use 1.3+v when ocing) cooling and is triple slot. The windforce runs the core warmer(not much) but the vrm runs a lot cooler. The windforce is a two slot card. Everything else is the same.
